On a chilly evening on the Burren Road we saw a clash between the second and third place teams in the U13 League.
New Oak started brightly with some slick passing especially through midfield from Cian Hyland. However, Crettyard always looked dangerous on the break with Michael Brennan a real threat.
New Oak broke the deadlock after great work by Tobias Stobra on the left wing and he crossed the ball to the back post where Leigh Slattery was waiting to smash it home. 1-0
Crettyard went on the offensive and pushed forward and eventually got some luck when a low cross somehow found its way underneath the in form Cathal Kennedy. 1-1.
Crettyard kept the pressure on and soon after got their reward when another ball into the box deflected off a New Oak defender into the back of the net. 1-2
Crettyard were full of confidence now and kept the pressure on New Oak and just before half time the ball fell nicely for Crettyard's Cian O'Sullivan who smashed the ball to the top corner, unstoppable. A great strike. 1-3
The second half saw New Oak come out fighting and pushed forward at every opportunity, Adonai Ngenkam had some great hold up play and played some neat passes for Kyle Kinsella who went close on a couple of occasions.
Crettyard grabbed a a fourth after a free-kick was played in low and once again met by a perfectly timed run by Cian O'Sullivan. 1-4
New Oak pushed looking for something to get them back into the game and it came from Kalem Geoghegan's speculative effort from distance which caught Crettyard keeper Mark Dowling off guard and bounced into the top corner. 2-4
Crettyard held out at the back with an impressive display from Fionnan Brennan.
New Oak played until the final whistle but couldn't find those elusive goals and Crettyard took the points.
