In the last 16 tie in the south East region of the SFAI trophy, Burrin came out on top after extra time. Both teams played some really good football and made it a very enjoyable match to watch. Clerihan scored their first against the run of play and defended well, forcing burrin to play the ball backwards a number of times. Burrin had enough chances to win this game by 5 goals but just didn’t go their way in the first half after hitting the post a few times, and the Clerihan keeper having a brilliant game. Clerihan scored their second just before half time and started to look more comfortable. Burrin came out a different team in the second half as super sub Tadhg Campbell scoring twice to bring the game to extra time. Extra time was completely dominated from the home side. Ryan Abbey looked like he was going to score a worldie from outside the box after connecting perfectly from a volley but it just going over the bar. The winner came from Bobby Finn after a scramble in the box and he slotted it home to progress Burrin.
Best for Burrin Celtic we’re Colm Donald, Daire Nolan, Robbie Kelliher and Glen Cantwell.
