Burrin Celtic hosted New Oak Boys AFC for the first time on a windy morning in The Valley Ballon. With both teams very evenly matched it was a great game from start to finish. The home team took the lead midway through the first half with some brilliant passing from the mid field right into the forward line finding Chloe Cunningham who popped the ball in past the New Oak keeper. It wasnt long before Chloe Cunningham stepped up for her second of the game with both teams fighting hard and having equal possession. Just before half time Erin Walker found the net with a fine finish following a great pass from Kate Murphy.
Half time score 2-1.
The second half saw New Oak step up a gear and with the wind in their back it wasn't long before they were all square with a super solo run from Kate Murphy and an accomplished finish. From then on New Oak applied the pressure and went ahead with two goals from Daisy Cooney and another three from Erin Wakler. Burrin Celtic came close with efforts in the second half only to be denied by great saves from the New Oak Keeper.
Full time score 2-7.
A strong team performace from an improving Burrin Celtic with best on the day from Emma Bergin, Chloe Cunningham, Grace McDonald, Katie Shannon & Aine Deacon. Best for New Oak were Faye Dalton, Erin Walker & Katie-Rose Nolan.
