New Oak Boys AFC 3 - 0 Vale Wanderers AFC

New Oak maintained their unbeaten run and cemented their place on top of Div 1 with a hard earned 3-0 win over Vale Wanderers at New Oak this afternoon.

Plenty of possession and high pressing was the theme of the game for New Oak in the opening quarter of the game, bu Luke Honeyball kept his side in it with a series of good saves. However, on 19mins, the deadlock was finally broken when the ball broke to Cormac Lowry on edge of the box and his first time shot found the bottom corner of Vales net, making it a deserved 1-0 to New Oak. With continued pressure coming from New Oak when any time out of possession, they came very close to increasing their lead on 26mins, when Cormac Lowrys shot struck the foot of the post. Vale tried to push forward in closing stages of the first half but New Oaks defence stayed strong, and it finished 1-0 at half time.

New Oak immediately pushed forward from the kick off in the search for no2, but it was Vale who got down the field and a shot on goal required New Oak goalkeeper Nigel Coughlan to get down low to his left to save well.

6mins into second half however, New Oak got their deserved 2nd and it was a beautiful ball over the top from Cormac Lowry to Keelan Brennan whose first time shot found the bottom corner. It was tit for tat in midfield after that until 29mins in, a cross from Conor Dooley found Ruarai Delaney in a great goal scoring position but the shot was saved only for it to fall to the onrushing Daniel Custerson who couldn'tiss and made it 3-0, and this how it finished. Well deserved win for New Oak but it was hard fought from start to finish. Vale tried hard throughout and best for them on the day were Brendan Byrne, Logan Coleman, Sean Foley, James Aughney.

Best for New Oak were Cormac Lowry, Fiach Donnolly, Conor Dooley, Zach Kelly & Jamie McCormack.

U15 girls 22/01 12:30
Vale Wanderers AFC 0 - 1 Nurney Villa AFC

Vale and Nurney villa’s girls played out a tough match in good condition in Leighlinbridge. It was a very tight 1st Half with Nurney putting on the pressure early on but both teams were limited to shots on goal. Vale starting to string a few chances together and when Sarah devine was clean through she was fouled in the box and a penalty was given.

The resulting Penalty was superbly saved by Zara Farrell in the Nurney goal

Half time 0-0

The second half started slowly with vale looking tired but they came back into the half and Alice Hickey was clean through but had strayed offside.

Then with 10 minutes left Nurney broke through the vale defence and Sarah murphy slotted home to give Nurney the lead.

Vale piled on the pressure and nearly scored from a well taken corner which broke to Zoe Clarke and somehow her shot was cleared off the line. Zara Farrell also pulled off a shot that look destined to cross the line.

Injuries started to tell for vale and eventually Nurney held out for the win.

Well done to Nurney especially Sarah Murphy, Zara Farrell and Mia craddock who put in great work

Commiserations for vale who tried really hard especially emma Delacy, roisin Collins and Sarah devine.

Stalemate in local derby
u13 div 2 22/01 13:00
Nurney Villa AFC 2 - 2 St Joseph's AFC
Nurney u13s recent run of good results stuttered a little as visitors St Joseph's took a well earned draw in this local Derby. It certainly was a game of 2 halves with thr home side dominating for long spells in the first half and deservedly took an early lead through top striker Ben Kelly. Kelly was on target again soon after after good play by Adam Jeffares. A 2 goal lead did not flatter them and further good chances were not converted by Kelly, Eoghan Murphy and Liam Murphy. So at halftime it was 2 0. A jigged St Joseph's stormed I to thr 2nd half and begin to boss the midfield area and niall Egan was played in by Nathan Walsh midway through and duly converted with a nice finish. Nurney relied on breakaway attacks but couldn't hold possession in the Joseph's half for long. The visitors presure finally told when paudie breen finished from close range with a nice flick. Alex mcgrath was continuing to impress for the visitors but the last chance of the game fell to the dangerous Kelly but his deft header was brilliantly pushed away by the Joseph's keeper Evan farrell. A well earned and shared point for both.

Hanover Harps AFC v Parkville United AFC Black
u12 league 22/01 11:30
Hanover Harps AFC 5 - 2 Parkville United AFC Black

It was clear and calm on the Plots this morning when Hanover Harps welcomed Parkville Utd. The home side started the better and applied lots of early pressure. This front-footed approach paid dividends when Cian Howard was unleashed by great wing play from Nathaniel Jukabiec to make it 1-0. Harps doubled their lead moments later when Masfie Islam found Shay O Grady who made it 2. Midway through the half a through ball from David Dutu was latched onto by Jukabiec who made no mistake. The rest of the half was much of the same with Hanover pressing forward. Before half time, Howard was on hand from a Dutu corner to bury a half chance and made it 4-0 at the break.

For the second half Hanover rung the changes and lost their rhythm a bit. Parkville began to find a footing and started to break the home team's line and grabbed a goal from the spot with the penalty cooly slotted in by Kai Quinn. As the game progressed it became an end-to-end battle with both team's going close. Andrian Robu missing several one on one's before eventually getting the goal his efforts deserved. But the visitors weren't done and kept searching for a second goal that came when a fumble by the keeper was pounced on by Lorcan Cleary. The game finished Hanover 5-2 Parkville Utd.

Best for Hanover were: Nathaniel Jukabiec, James (J.P.) O Connor, and Cian Howard.

Best for Parkville were:

Lorcan Cleary, Donacha Myres, and Ryan Watchorn

Hanover Harps AFC 2 - 1 Glynn Barntown

Hanover Under 15's progressed to the quarter final of the SFAI Cup after a hard fought win over Glynn Barntown of Wexford in The Plots on Saturday afternoon. The home team took the game to the opposition from the first whistle and contested every ball in what was a physical battle in midfield.

Hanover had a couple of half chances before Aaron Cunningham Burke got in behind the defence to open the scoring mid way through the first half. The Wexford team applied pressure but the home defence and Ewan Breen in goal were very solid. As half time approached Daire Byrne had a header just wide at the back post before the half ended 1-0 to the home team.

The second half was much the same with Hanover posing more questions but Glynn looked dangerous on the break. The second goal came when Aaron got his second goal with a back post header from a Sam McHugh corner. Hanover looked a threat all afternoon from set pieces. With the game in injury time Glynn were awarded a contentious penalty which was put away well, however the final whistle blew on the restart and Hanover had secured a well deserved win.

An all round team performance was the key to victory with Eoin Ryan outstanding in midfield, the back four solid, and the tireless running of Darragh Redmond, Utura Fernandez and Sam McHugh. Thanks to the Under 14 players for stepping up.

Burrin could have put the game to bed in the first half but could not take the chances that came our way. The first goal was an exceptionally worked goal from the goalie Aiden O Brien as he played it out from the back and some great passes to Tadgh Campbell who crossed it, and Bobby Finn with an exceptional header to make it 1-0. Burrin missed some great chances but still played very well. Bagnelstown defended well and got their goals on the break. Burrin got the score line back to 3-2 when Robbie Kelliher scored but it was too late. Final score 2-3
