Hanover win away from home
U12 Div 1 26/11 10:00
Burrin Celtic AFC 0 - 3 Hanover Harps AFC

Hanover proved too strong for the home side during what was a very blustery day at the valley.

This was Hanovers first outing in this years U 12 division 1 league as they have been focusing on SFAI since the season began.

Both sides had chances in the first half but couldn’t capitalise. Supported by a strong wind Celtic had a few opportunities to break through but the Hanover defence stood firm. 0-0 at half time.

The visitors looked the hungrier side from the start of the second half and with the wind behind them they scored 3 fairly quick fire goals in succession through Aidan Fitzharris, Reece Walker & Tristan Cotter.

Best for Burrin were Ethan Rooney, Bill Roberts and Robbie Kelleher.

Clerihan v Nurney Villa AFC
Clerihan too strong for Nurney in FAI U12 trophy
26/11 12:00
Clerihan 5 - 0 Nurney Villa AFC

Nurney Villa u12 travelled to Clerihan FC in Tipperary for this u12 FAI trophy 2nd round tie. The weather conditions were poor with strong wind and rain blowing diagonally across the pitch. This favoured Clerihan in the first half.

Nurney conceded a penalty early in the first half. This was well finished by Ewan Byrne to give the home side that early advantage. Clerihan capitalised on the weather and worked through a further four goals in the first half, with Robbie O’Brien prominent.

Nurney enjoyed good periods of possession in the second half after the turn around. Aided by the wind they put some pressure on the Clerihan defence. Despite some close calls they didn’t score. Meanwhile Clerihan managed to work their way up the pitch to score again. Clerihan were a very well balanced team. Prominent for them were Noah and Robbie O’Brien, and Luke Keane (a second half scorer). Best for Nurney were Ben Maher, Finn Lawler and Jack Glynn.

St Patrick's Boys AFC v Parkville United AFC
U12 Div 1 26/11 10:00
St Patrick's Boys AFC 0 - 2 Parkville United AFC

Close faught game between two good side. 0-0 at have time with parkville on top with a strong wind.

St Pats improved in the second half but parkville were still the better side and scoring 2 brilliant goals.

Early in the second half Parkville broke the deadlock with some good play down the right-hand side. A series of quick passes between Kacper Futoma, Charlie Goss and Joe Leacy set up Daniel Malinowski who released an unstoppable shot to make it one nil. Within ten minutes Parkville struck again. Jack O Connor and Liam Brennan worked the ball out from the back before it was picked up by Oran Alcock out wide on the lef. He beat the defender and burst into the penalty area before firing a shot to the back of the St Pats net, giving the keeper no chance. St Pats came back into the game and threatened a number of times however the Parkville keeper, Cillian Maxwell, was equal to the task pulling off a number of fine saves.

Hanover Harps AFC v Dungarvan
u16sfai 26/11 12:45
Hanover Harps AFC 3 - 0 Dungarvan

Hanover Under 16's qualified for the quarter finals of the SFAI Cup South East region after a hard fought victory over a good Dungarvan team in The Plots on Saturday afternoon. The Waterford team got their passing game going early and had Hanover on the back foot in the early stages. A combination of good defending and a bit of good fortune saw the home goal survive a series of corners. As Hanover came more into the game it was from a corner they took the lead when a ball delivered to the back post by Bailee Cooney was met by the head of Cody Molloy who made no mistake.

The goal unsettled Dungarvan and the home team could have doubled the lead before the referee blew for half time.Facing the wind in the second half Hanover had more of the ball than in the first half where there was signs of rustiness not having played for six weeks.Try as they did, Dungarvan couldn't find a way through with Ewan Breen in the home goal showing excellent handling in difficult conditions. The home team got their second goal when Eoin Ryan's pass freed Aaron Cunningham Burke behind the defence and he rifled a shot across the keeper in the corner. The game was made safe when a surging run from Eoin Ryan left him one on one and he made no mistake slotting the ball home.Unfair to single out individuals as only a great team effort brought about the win against a very good and well drilled Dungarvan side.

U16 Girls 26/11 12:30
Burrin Celtic AFC 0 - 3 St Patrick's Boys AFC
Burrin celtic welcomed St Patrick’s to the valley on Saturday in this under 16 girls league game. With a very strong wind blowing right down the pitch it was burrin who won the toss and decided to play with the wind and it really was a huge factor in the game with St Pats finding it very difficult to get out of there own half in the early stages ,burrin’s midfield of Leah Mannion and Molly Maher and Sami Salter were winning most of the balls in the centre ,St Pats were first to score with great movement down Burrin’s right wing and a great delivery from Molly Cowman for St Patrick’s found Summer Doorley on the back post to put St Patrick’s 1 up. Burrin almost hit back straight away with Shannon Greene's shot just crept wide.St Patrick’s made it 2 just before half time with a brilliant free kick from Emily Kelly . The second half saw St Patrick’s enjoying the wind at their backs and it was. Burrin’s turn to fight against the strong wind ,Sarah Duffy and Eimear Nolan were putting in a massive effort in the Burrin defence to keep St Pat’s out,Leah Fitzpatrick was coming more into the game for burrin and made some huge runs at the St Patrick’s defence, St Patrick’s made it 3 late on when a defensive header found its way to the Burrin goal.Best for Burrin Sarah Duffy ,Leah mannion and Leah Fitzpatrick. Best for st Patrick’s, Summer Doorley, Kate Culleton, and Grace Walker.

Clonmel v St Fiacc's AFC
Girls u14 cup 26/11 12:30
Clonmel 1 - 5 St Fiacc's AFC

Clonmel 1 St Fiaccs 5

St Fiaccs u14 girls continued their good run in this SFAI competition with a convincing result against Clonmel. St Fiaccs took the lead against the run of play and against a very strong wind when Hannah Matthews sent a rocket of a shot into the net from a corner kick. Clonmel battled back and equalised a few minutes later. St Fiaccs battled well for the remainder of the half and went in level.

With the wind to help Fiaccs took control of the game when Katelyn Moran sent a shot from well outside the box to the back of the net. Clonmel tried to fight back but a brilliant counter attack saw Ashlee Smith increase the lead after some excellent work from Ali O Connor and Leah Cummins Nelson which saw the ball worked out from Fiaccs backline.

Hanna Kerfah added to the scoreline with another shot from outside the area and Ashlee Smith completed the scoring with her second of the game.

Again Clonmel battled back and only for 2 brilliant saves from Nicole Osborne the scoreline could have been closer.

Best for St Fiaccs were Leah Cummins Nelson, Hannah Matthews and Jasmine Doyle.

Ballymurphy Celtic v New Oak Boys AFC
Bally finish strong to beat old rivals New Oak
U12 Div 1 26/11 13:00
Ballymurphy Celtic 2 - 1 New Oak Boys AFC

In a game played in bad weather conditions

The two teams served up an outstanding game,Bally played against a very strong wind in the 1st half, and an unbelievable defensive display from the goalkeeper and 3 backs after some heavy pressure from new oak who had big help due to the heavy wind, but due to Ballymurphys strong character they took the lead 25 mins to a great Noah fitzpatrick goal,so 1-0 at the break.

Bally showed no slowing down as the whistle blew for the start of 2nd half, and even though the wind had died,a good new oak side had no answer to the pressure put on by Bally,it was attack after attack, and then against the run of play new oak equalised

It was a nail in the heart to take but the penny dropped with the Bally lads, who really went into 5th gear in the final 10mins,it was two and fro and Callum Kelly brought off 3 great saves in succession,a display that his goalkeeping coach shay ivers will be proud of.

And it came down to the resilient Bally tearing down the wing with Rory Murphy and Finn scully tearing the new oak defence to shreads and a pass in to the brilliant Noah Fitz to put past the new oak keeper,to win the game for Bally in the last few mins,a richly deserved win.

The 9 starting team and two subs, were magnificent and its a game I think that would be impossible to single out any Bally player but a huge mention has to go to Joe Walsh at centre back who stood strong along with John Joyce and Ardagh O Shea.

It was a great team performance from a gallant new oak side.

Ballymurphy Celtic v Vale Wanderers AFC
All square in Ballymurphy
U12 Div 3 26/11 11:45
Ballymurphy Celtic 2 - 2 Vale Wanderers AFC

A miserable afternoon in Ballymurphy seen Celtic drop their first points of the season.

Ballymurphy had a slow tired start. Was the toy show the night before to blame? The wind? The horizontal rain? Or was it the strong Vale side who started from the first whistle?

Vale were very dominant for the first 10 minutes. Winning every 50/50 ball. On 12 minutes Ethan Chambers found himself in space. He smashed a shot from just outside the box, the ball slipped through the goalkeepers wet gloves.1 nil Vale

Finally Ballymurphy got going and seen their best spell of the game. On 18 minutes Danny Jordan picked up the ball in the centre of the park. Clever footwork and a lovely through ball sent Sam Traynor away. Sam left two defenders in his wake before curling a lovely little shot to make it 1 all.

Four minutes later Ruairi O'brien put bally ahead. He went on a solo run down the right wing. His goal bound shot took a slight deflection and past the Vale keeper.

Bobby Ivers, in goal, ensures bally finished the half ahead when he bravely saved at the feet of an onrushing striker.

2 - 1 to Ballymurphy at halftime.

In the second half Vale, playing with the wind, really turned up the pressure and Ballymurphy seldom troubled the Vale goal. The trio of Frankie Doyle, Ethan Chambers and Conor Ryan in Vales midfield linked up really well. Vale created chance after chance but the bally boys stood their ground. With two in the first half and two in the second half has seen Zenon Jordan master the art of the last ditch tackle. Cillian Foley cleared ball after ball, never putting a foot wrong all game.

Eventually Vale, with a bit of luck, scored the equaliser on 45 minutes. Ruairi Farrell pounced on a loose ball and found himself 1 on 1 with Bobby Ivers. Bobby got a foot to the low shot but the ball trickled over the line.

2 all the final result.

Best for Ballymurphy: Zenon Jordan, Bobby Ivers, Cillian Foley.

Best for Vale: Frankie Doyle, Ethan Chambers, Conor Ryan.

U14 Div 2 26/11 11:30
Hanover Harps AFC 0 - 1 St Anne's AFC

Hard day at the office for Hanover Harps who met St Anne's on a wet and windy morning in The Plots. It was a very tight affair with both teams battling hard to take control. A very evenly matched game with chances few and far between. St Anne's put the ball in the back of the net after 26 minutes but it was disallowed for a foul on the Hanover keeper. Half time score 0-0.

In the second half Hanover came out strong but found it very hard to get through the solid St Anne's backline. With both teams still battling hard, a goal finally came in the 66th minute for St Anne's Ryan Morgan from a quick free kick which caught Hanovers defence off guard.

Final score 1-0 to St Anne's.
