U8 and U9 Blitz Format

The format for the u8 and u9 is also going to be blitz with four teams at each venue playing dual games so there will be four matches going on at the same time on a full pitch. The example below shows what happens when there is two teams and two more will play in the other half and then swap over. With the u8 and u9 everybody will play three 20 minute matches (10 Mins a side). In the event we have uneven number of teams some weeks clubs will just play one game.

St Patrick's Boys AFC Green 4 - 6 Burrin Celtic AFC

St. Patrick's Boys (Green) and Burrin Celtic played a very competitive and entertaining game of football at The Meadows this afternoon. Burrin Celtic took an early lead but St. Patrick's fought back quickly and soon leveled the score when Maeve O'Neill scored an excellent goal. Burrin Celtic registered two more goals before the break having been denied on a number of occasions by Kate Culleton who was outstanding between the posts for St. Patrick's. St. Patrick's started the second half in superb form creating chance after chance. Within 15 minutes both sides were level and just few minutes later St. Patrick's went ahead for the first time this season when Maeve O'Neill hit the back of the Burrin Celtic net to score her fourth goal of the day. This followed excellent support play from Niamh Lalor and Aoife Kelly. Burrin Celtic fought hard to get back into the game and soon after, the sides were level again. Burrin Celtic deserve great credit by following up with two more goals in the last few minutes to take the points available.

U11 and U10 Blitz Format
Blitz procedure

This year the format for u11 and u10 is dual games as above in the diagram so there is two games going on at the same time across a big pitch. There will be one official ref and the clubs take it in turn to officiate the other game. The ref swaps pitches at half time so all kids get equal time with ref. There will be four teams at most grounds every week unless a club ask for the day off. If two of the teams are from the same club then we play two 40 minute matches (20mins a half) to avoid the club playing against itself.

Burrin Celtic AFC v St Joseph's AFC
Burrin Celtic 0-0 St. Josephs
u15 League 03/12 10:00
Burrin Celtic AFC 0 - 0 St Joseph's AFC

The match started with both teams attacking. Both defences where on top early, then St Josephs broke the Burrin defensive line and there centre forward was 2 on 1 with the Celtic keeper and lobbed him and put it wide. That woke Burrin Celtic up and Scott Tracey broke down the right and with the outside of his left foot he tried to score but the Josephs keeper got a toe to it and put it wide, Scott had another chance 5 minutes later, from outside the box he unleashed a strike and with the keeper beaten hit the cross bar and came back out..

Half time 0-0.

The second half was a hard fought match with a lot of play in the midfield and with 10 mins to go St Josephs had a shot from the left wing which the Burrin Celtic keeper having to be at his best to put it out for a corner. St Josephs pilled on the pressure with minutes to go with free after free but the Celtic defence standing firm. A great match was watched by all there.

Full time 0-0.

It was a good all round performance by St Josephs.

Best for Celtic, Sean Mc grath, Scott Tracey and Jake Summers.
