Crettyard United AFC v Parkville United AFC
u14 div 1 06/01 13:00
Crettyard United AFC 2 - 1 Parkville United AFC

The game started brilliantly and kept the fast tempo throughout the game. Crettyard were on top in the early exchanges with Luke Bailey causing trouble down the right-hand side on numerous occasions including one shot that rattled the post after 10 minutes. However they were awarded for their perseverence and scored 2 goals in the next 4 minutes. The first was from Darragh Kealy who latched onto a breaking ball just inside the box. The next was one of the best individual goals of the year. Peter Grogan picked the ball up just inside the Parkville half and ran down the sideline beating 2 players and dribbling into the box twisting in and out of another 3 players before rifling the ball into the top corner. These two goals only sprung Parkville into life and they dominated possession until had time but failed to score. The second half started very lively with attack after attack at either end. But it wasn't until 10 minutes to go when Parkville had a free flowing move which found Dylan Hand on the left inside the box who Cooley finished to make it 2-1. Parkville then put huge pressure on Crettyard in the last 10 minutes but the Crettyard lads stood firm, including brace play from goalie Sean Moffatt and John Brennan. It was a fantastic team performance from Crettyard with Peter Grogan, Darragh Kealy, Dara Kelly and Shane Buggy standing out.

Hanover Harps AFC v Nurney Villa AFC
u14 div 2 06/01 11:15
Hanover Harps AFC 9 - 0 Nurney Villa AFC

Hanover consolidated their position as league leaders with a good win against a hard working Nurney team in The Plots on Saturday morning. The visitors who played with ten players defended very well and it took a good strike from distance from Nikita Judin to break the deadlock. Spurred on by this, Tyris O'Rock soon doubled the lead before Judin completed a first half hat trick to leave it 4-0 at the break. Numerical advantage told in the second half and despite some excellent goalkeeping, Nurney tired and Tyris O'Rock completed his hat trick and Nikita Judin scored three to end with six goals on the day. Bogdan Saigiu, Jake Smithers and Rory Sweeney were best for Hanover while for a game Nurney team all ten of their players gave everything.

The format for the u8 and u9 is also going to be blitz with four teams at each venue playing dual games so there will be four matches going on at the same time on a full pitch. The example below shows what happens when there is two teams and two more will play in the other half and then swap over. With the u8 and u9 everybody will play three 20 minute matches (10 Mins a side). In the event we have uneven number of teams some weeks clubs will just play one game.

Hanover Harps AFC v New Oak Boys AFC
U15 Lge 06/01 12:45
Hanover Harps AFC 3 - 0 New Oak Boys AFC

Hanover started their new new year campaign with a 3-0 win over local rivals New Oak today. Both teams had to enlist players from their 14s squad due to holidays and sickness and all of them excelled in today's game. In atrocious winter conditions Harps took a 3 nil lead by half time with goals from Conor Heffernan, Eoghan Byrne and John Ryan. The first two goals came from relentless pressure with both players scoring from close range. Ryan's goal came from a free kick from his own half which deceived the keeper to bounce into the net.

Hanover seemed to settle down in the second half and as time progressed gave debuts to u14 players Kyle Nolan, Harry Lloyd and Stephen Smith. New oak never stopped trying to the end and had best players in Aaron Bolger, Keelan Geoghegan and Bonny Millingo.

Best for Hanover were Ryan Brady, Evan Gorry and Bryan McMahon.

U11 and U10 Blitz Format
Blitz procedure

This year the format for u11 and u10 is dual games as above in the diagram so there is two games going on at the same time across a big pitch. There will be one official ref and the clubs take it in turn to officiate the other game. The ref swaps pitches at half time so all kids get equal time with ref. There will be four teams at most grounds every week unless a club ask for the day off. If two of the teams are from the same club then we play two 40 minute matches (20mins a half) to avoid the club playing against itself.

Joey's win the battle of the Saints
u12 div 1 06/01 11:00
St Joseph's AFC 1 - 0 St Fiacc's AFC

St Joseph's 1 St Fiacc's 0

A good win for St Joseph's against a St Fiacc's side not at there full potential. St Fiacc's started best and created most of the chances in the first half. Credit to Joe Bermingham in the St Joseph's goal for some great saves. The second half was a more even affair but a well taken goal by John Byrne broke the deadlock. St Fiacc's were unlucky not to equalise near the end but were kept at bay by a good defensive effort from Joey's.

Scorer John Byrne.

Best for St Joseph's Joe Bermingham, Ben Coilidis, Bobby Doyle and Robbie Fitzgerald.

Best for St Fiacc's Daniel Corcoran Dylan Murphy
