U8 and U9 Blitz Format

The format for the u8 and u9 is also going to be blitz with four teams at each venue playing dual games so there will be four matches going on at the same time on a full pitch. The example below shows what happens when there is two teams and two more will play in the other half and then swap over. With the u8 and u9 everybody will play three 20 minute matches (10 Mins a side). In the event we have uneven number of teams some weeks clubs will just play one game.

U11 and U10 Blitz Format
Blitz procedure

This year the format for u11 and u10 is dual games as above in the diagram so there is two games going on at the same time across a big pitch. There will be one official ref and the clubs take it in turn to officiate the other game. The ref swaps pitches at half time so all kids get equal time with ref. There will be four teams at most grounds every week unless a club ask for the day off. If two of the teams are from the same club then we play two 40 minute matches (20mins a half) to avoid the club playing against itself.

Burrin Celtic AFC v St Anne's AFC
Good win for St Anne's as Burrin fail to secure a draw
U12 League Div Two 21/01 14:30
Burrin Celtic AFC 2 - 3 St Anne's AFC

In a very entertaining match St. Anne's showed great fight to come away with all the spoils of this match. Daragh Loughman scoring two goals in the first half which the home side couldn't pull back. St. Anne's kept control of the ball well in the remaining part of the fist half with Alex McDonagh, Mackenzie McIvor, Bobby Wlash, Eoin Dunne and Mickey Walsh playing well. Burrin fought back really well in the second half with Billy Nolan, Jimmy Carroll and Oisin Doyle trying hard. Then the break through when a penault was given for a handball inside the St. Anne's box which Jimmy Carroll scored. This gave the home side a bit of momenetum and with an over the top ball James Ingrim found some room for the first time during this match he dispatched the ball to the St. Anne's net. Game tied at 2 all with minutes left Burrin might have thought we will have a go for the winner but with 7 minutes to go it was St Anne's who got the winner and credit them as they played until the final whistle

Hanover Harps AFC v Vale Wanderers AFC
U12 League Div One 21/01 11:30
Hanover Harps AFC 4 - 0 Vale Wanderers AFC

Hanover took all three points, with a convincing performance. Both teams started brightly and Vale almost took the lead after five minutes but Ben McCarron saved it.

Harps began to turn the screw and on 8 minutes, Josh Brady turned and angled a low shot to the net for the lead. Harps were dominant all over the field and following a brilliant defence splitting pass from Cialan Brady. His twin Josh rounded the keeper to make it 2-0. Following great play from Liam Ryan, Josh Brady made it 3-0 on twenty two minutes to leave Hanover out of sight.

The second half began with Vale pushing hard for a goal but the Harps back line stood firm. The game was over as a contest when Tadhg Curry controlled a cross from man of the match Cialan Brady and lashed the ball into the net to make it 4-0.

A lead Harps comfortably saw out till the final whistle.

Best for Hanover were Luke Murphy, Josh and Cialan Brady and Liam Ryan.

For Vale, their best were Shane Kirwin, Charlie Nolan and Ben Hogan.

Killeshin AFC White v Burrin Celtic AFC
Killeshin FC White vs Burrin Celtic
u15 League 21/01 12:15
Killeshin AFC White 0 - 3 Burrin Celtic AFC

A very tight first half with both teams defending very well, both defences on top as they went in 0-0 at half time. Ten minutes into the second half Burrin took the lead with a well placed finish from Adam Connolly, Eoin Kavanagh added another a few minutes later to dampen the Killeshin spirits but credit to them they stayed battling away trying to get back into the game, late on Jake Sommers scored a towering header from a marvellous cross to wrap the game up. Credit to the whole Killeshin team who never stopped battling for the full game with Tom Lloyd, Josh Farrell, Darragh Murphy and Graham Maher excellent, best for Burrin were Oisin Kelly, Adam Nolan and Jake Sommers

Hanover Harps AFC v Nurney Villa AFC
U16 League 21/01 10:00
Hanover Harps AFC 1 - 3 Nurney Villa AFC

Hanover took a while to get going. Again they got going, Nurney were 2-0 through Mark Foley up in the first 20 minutes. Hanover tried hard to get back in the game, but at half time it was 2-0.

Hanover came out in the second half scoring in the first five minutes, with a great strike from Carlos Bano, but Mark Foley secured his hat-trick minutes later and a talented Nurney team, more hungry on the day, fought harder for every ball and with some individual mistakes from Hanover, cost them to lose 3-1.

Best for Hanover were Adam Nolan, Craig Bowden, Sean Mulhall and Matthew Kelly.

Nurney put in a great team performance on the day.

Joeys hosted Mill Celtic this morning at McCardles Cross. It was an all round club effort from the home team as a disasterous week of injuries left them depending on U12s & 11s to field a team. Credit to this young team they battled to the end but the visitors proved too strong. Joeys 2 goals were scored by Adam Shaw.

Parkville United AFC v Bagenalstown/Vale Wanderers AFC
u15 League 21/01 12:30
Parkville United AFC 0 - 4 Bagenalstown/Vale Wanderers AFC

Parkville U15s season could be summed up by their performance on the pitch today. Starting confidently they matched Bagnelstown / Vale early on only to concede in the 18th minute. Parkville created chances but again it was their final ball that let them down.

The 2nd half began furiously with both teams wanting to get the upper hand, but again the visitors were too strong and doubled their lead after 2 mins. With Parkville chasing the game and committing more players forward the inevitable happened as they conceded 2 more goals. As the final whistle sounded for a relieved Parkville, the scoreline told the full story. Parkville 0 Bagnelstown / Vale 4.

Best for Parkville; Kyran Maher,

Best for Bagnelstown; Rob Bulmer 2, James Dowling 1, Jack Mcculloch 1.
