Mikey Ryan - RIP

Mikey Ryan - Words cannot describe the shock and bewilderment of the news we awoke to this morning with the very sad passing of Mikey Ryan. Mikey had distinguished himself within his clubs as an outstanding goalkeeper and carried that into our Academy Squads excelling at last years Kennedy Cup in Limerick. He was also a member of our Academy Coaching Staff and had very quickly established himself with the goalkeepers of both the 12's and 13's squads. Mikey leaves behind a lot of great friends and colleagues within the soccer family in Carlow and we extend our sincere condolences to his Parents, family and friends and all who knew Mikey.

A well contested match right from the start saw Parkville dominate possession early on. The St Anne's defence held strong. However, Parkville managed to grab a goal when the ball was bouncing around the box from a corner. They took a 1-0 lead into half-time but the match was evenly poised. The St Anne's boys showed great team spirit and determination to keep out Parkville with some fantastic saves from Tom Wright and equally good defensive work from the whole team. St. Anne's had their chances to counter from well worked chances involving Russell Perse, Paul Lammon and Ronan Weston. Nevertheless, Parkville got their second goal from another corner with 3 minutes to go to seal their victory. Credit to St. Anne's for making this a well battled contest and outstanding performances from Jamie Ward, Tom Wright and Gavin Weston.
