Vale Wanderers AFC v St Patrick's Boys AFC
U14 cup 14/05 12:00
Vale Wanderers AFC 1 - 3 St Patrick's Boys AFC

Great win for Pats, after a really hard fought & high quality game. Vale started well & scored a good goal through Robert Bulmer. Pats hit back & equalised with a great free kick from Darragh O'Donoghue. Another goal from Darragh, put Pats in front at the break. Pats kept pushing for a third & Darragh completed his hat trick, with a cool finish. Vale pushed hard to the end,but Pats held on.This was a great win for Pats, with the sixteen players all playing their part. The 24 players in the squad all had a big part to play in a great season for Pats.
Burrin Celtic AFC v New Oak Boys AFC
u16 cup 14/05 10:00
Burrin Celtic AFC 0 - 1 New Oak Boys AFC

Played in lovely sunny conditions both teams played their part in a competitive game of football. Burrin settled the quickest and played some nice football but found it hard to create clear cut chances against a well organized New Oak defence. As the half progressed New Oak grew in to the game and it became end to end but neither team could find that final ball to create a scoring chance.

The second half started the same as the first half finished with both teams playing some lovely football and battling hard for possession but still they could not be seperated. Midway through the half New Oak attacked from the left and Podge Mannion released Joe Doran whose pinpoint cross was turned in to the net by Robert Purcell. This did not deter Celtic who pressed looking for a equalizer which allowed New Oak to play on the counter attack but despite some good play from both sides no further goals were added

Credit to both teams on what was a very hard fought and sporting game, It was a great team performance from Burrin Celtic. New Oak players should be very proud of themselves on completion of the league and cup double.

St Patrick's Boys AFC v Burrin Celtic AFC
St Patrick's Boys 2-0 Burrin Celtic
U13 cup 14/05 13:30
St Patrick's Boys AFC 2 - 0 Burrin Celtic AFC

Burrin Celtic and St Patrick’s Boys battled out an exciting U13 cup final at Quakers Field, Killeshin. This was a highly competitive game in which Celtic had the better of the early stages, using their strength on the wings to create good attacking opportunities. St Pats Boys settled well mid way through the half and began to win good possession in midfield with some excellent passing football. Celtic came under increasing pressure and St Pats finally got a breakthrough goal five minutes before the end of the half when Jamie Murphy's perfectly placed free kick reached the Celtic net. St Pats Boys comfortably held their lead throughout the second half. In the latter stages Celtic came close to scoring an equaliser, but it was St Pat's Jamie Murphy who sealed the win in the final minutes from a counter attacking move. Both teams deserve great credit for their standard of football in this entertaining and sporting cup final.

Bridge Utd had a couple of chances but the Baltinglass goalie Orla Hanlon was determined to finish with a clean sheet, Nicole Sinnott was next to find the back of the net for Baltinglass and Rachel Whelan followed on with two more goals to finish the game 4-0 to Baltinglass. A great performance from all the Baltinglass girls.
Hanover Harps AFC Green v Parkville United AFC
Hanover complete League & Cup Double
u12 major cup 13/05 19:00
Hanover Harps AFC Green 5 - 0 Parkville United AFC

Hanover Harps Green completed a memorable year winning the cup to add to the league title. Parkville started brightly and almost took t lead but harps Daniel Brennan made a great interception .Harps soon settled and on 8 min a brilliant Liam Ryan pass found Cialan Brady who back heeled to the net Hanover double the lead on 12 min when John Phiri crossed for Josh Brady to score from close range . Parkville were working hard but failed to trouble Ben McCarron in the Harps goal. With Harps dominating it was only a matter of time before they scored and following a one two with Cian Ray, Liam Ryan lashed an unstoppable shot to give Hanover a 3 nil half time lead . The 2nd half saw Harps continuing to dominate play with Cian Ryan pulling the strings in midfield . Then as Parkville pushed forward looking to reduce the lead it left gaps for the speedy Harps forwards and when a long ball from Aaron Power found Josh Brady in space he coolly made it 4 and almost on full time Tadgh Curry put the icing on the cake with a header to complete the scoring. With Hanover winning 23 and drawing one match it was an incredible year for this talented team with Harry Brown Jamie Walker Killian Barry and Cian Ray starring on the day. Parkville to their credit never dropped their heads and played with great skill and intent. They should be very proud of their performance. Each and every Parkville player on the pitch gave it their all.

Vale never got going in this game. Hanover started brightly and opened up a 3-0 lead at half time. Vale played much better in the second half and matched Hanover for most of the second half until the last few seconds of the game when Hanover scored their 4th. Best for Vale, Jamie Brennan, Eoin Canavan and Ben Hogan.
Parkville United AFC v New Oak Boys AFC
A game of two halves
U12 Cup 11/05 19:00
Parkville United AFC 4 - 2 New Oak Boys AFC

Despite a lot of possession and mounting attack after attack, Parkville found themselves 2:0 down at half time. This was the result of coming up against a well organised New Oak Boys team that defended well, worked as a unit and were clinical in attack. The New Oak goals were scored by Jack Feehan in the 7th minute and Jack Knowles in the last minute of the half.

In the second half, Parkvilles fortune changed with a goal from Oisin Doyle 4 minutes after the break. The crucial moment of the game came 12 minutes into the second half, with the game balanced at 2:1, a blistering strike came back of the Parkville upright and was cleared. Killian Walsh scored the equaliser 3 minutes later to tie the game 2:2. Five minutes later, New Oak Boys were unlucky to concede a penalty for a hand ball. The penalty was clinically dispatched by Cian Doran to give Parkville a hard fought advantage. The game was put beyond doubt 5 minutes later by Killian Walsh when he broke free from the mid field and beat the keeper in a 1 on 1.

Well done to all involved on providing a very entertaining and fair contest, showing all that is good in school boy soccer.

Best of luck to Parkville in the final.

Byrne & Lawlor in the mark as Vale advance
Girls Champions Lge 07/05 13:00
Vale Wanderers AFC 2 - 0 Nurney Villa AFC

Vale 2-0 Nurney (HT 0-0)

Two second half goals ensured that Vale advanced to the final. The first half was a scrappy affair with few clear chances as Vale comfortably dealt with Nurneys direct style as Orliath Sawyer & Aoife Roche dominated for Vale. Nurneys keeper was rarely tested as Vales shots from distance were wide of the mark.

The second half saw both sides make changes with Emma Byrne replacing Laura Kearney. Vales passing began to see the first signs of pressure as Nurney struggled to clear their lines & conceded a series of corners. The first goal came from one of these set pieces with the ball dropping for Eibhe Lawlor to rifle into the roof of the net. Two minutes later Emma Byrne was rewarded for her impact off the bench as she forced home the ball from another Aoife Roche corner. Vale had a couple more close efforts before Nurney rallied late on as Chantelle Kelly had to save well to preserve her clean sheet

Best for Vale were Jane McDonald, Keeva Collins & Emma Byrne

New Oak Boys AFC v St Joseph's AFC

The second half continued the same way and with five minutes remaining New Oak scored their second through an unfortunate own goal.

Best for New Oak on the day were Ryan Kavanagh, Daniel Rossiter and Paulius Venys. Best for Joeys were Cillian Moore, Ruairi Scully, Alan Bohanna, Cian McGuire and Mark Mullen.

u16 cup 07/05 11:30
Hanover Harps AFC 00s 0 - 10 St Patrick's Boys AFC 00s

Hanover started off well with bright spells early on, however, they were not strong enough to keep out a very organised St Pat's team. St Pat's got goals through Thomas Sheehan who scored two, Lord Amponsa Afifa who scored three, Jamie Looney who scored two and Jack Malone scoring the final two goals. A great team performance for St Pat's while Jamie Mulhall and Dylan Twohig put in a great shift despite a dramatic score line.
Killeshin AFC v Burrin Celtic AFC

u16 cup 07/05 12:00
