Crettyard show Racism Red Card day

On Saturday 22nd October Crettyard UTD AFC Juvenile club "Showed Racism the red card!"

Our small club is located off the N78 in rural county Laois , situated close to the borders of both Kilkenny and Carlow.

Our engagement with the campaign was simple but effective . Both our Under 13 and Under 12 teams were playing their league games against Hanover Harps and Vale wanderers . Both Cretty yard team managers Ramon Buggy and Martin Rice gave full support by allowing pre match preparation to be interrupted by Aine Geoghegan (Club Secretary)

Hanover Harps AFC v St Patrick's Boys AFC
Cup Final Hanover Harps AFC v St Patrick's Boys AFC
29/04 16:30
Hanover Harps AFC 0 - 3 St Patrick's Boys AFC

St Patrick's Boys defeated Hanover in this Carlow Cup final played in gusty conditions in Burrin Rd Carlow (New Oak Boys) on Saturday, April 29th.

The two teams started well with very little between both sides, there were very few clear cut chances.

The breakthrough for St Patrick Boys came mid-way into the first half when Enoch Olanase scored with a shot to the roof of the net for St Patrick’s Boys first goal, following good play from Adam Murphy and Joseph Gordon.

St Patrick Boys scored their second goal 5 minutes later following good inter passing by Rian Lowry, Joshua Egan, and Alex Kelliher who laid the ball into the path of Jamie Murphy to put the finishing touch to a good move.

St Patrick Boys third came from penalty spot despatched by Joshua Egan, following a foul on Alex Kelliher which resulted from good play by Ronan Doyle.

Hanover's best chance in the first half came from a succession of corners mid way in the first half cleared by Cillian Fagan and Enoch Olanase.

Leaving it 3:0 at the break.

No further goals in the second half. Hanover tried hard to get back into the game in the second half and despite a couple chances towards the end of the game they were unable to breakdown a resolute St Patrick's Boys defence of John Coyne, Alex Delaney, Cillian Fagan and Charlie Horkan in goals.

BEST FOR Hanover. Great team performance by all

BEST FOR St Patrick Boys. Everyone involved in the team

U8 and U9 Blitz Format

The format for the u8 and u9 is also going to be blitz with four teams at each venue playing dual games so there will be four matches going on at the same time on a full pitch. The example below shows what happens when there is two teams and two more will play in the other half and then swap over. With the u8 and u9 everybody will play three 20 minute matches (10 Mins a side). In the event we have uneven number of teams some weeks clubs will just play one game.

U11 and U10 Blitz Format
Blitz procedure

This year the format for u11 and u10 is dual games as above in the diagram so there is two games going on at the same time across a big pitch. There will be one official ref and the clubs take it in turn to officiate the other game. The ref swaps pitches at half time so all kids get equal time with ref. There will be four teams at most grounds every week unless a club ask for the day off. If two of the teams are from the same club then we play two 40 minute matches (20mins a half) to avoid the club playing against itself.
