Win for St Annes
u15 Div 2 03/12 13:30
St Anne's AFC 3 - 2 Slaney Rovers AFC
First time in league for St Annes and Slaney to meet and what a game it was. St Annes started strong with a ball down the wing to Eoin Kelly but it scrambled across the box and was cleared, both teams were trying to get a foothold in the game but it was Slaney to hit the back of the net first. Slaney piled on the pressure and St Annes stay strong and had a few chances with the ball spilling in the Slaney box but Annes couldnt get the ball in the back of the net. First half ended 1 0 in Slaneys favour. Second half started and Annes were trying to rally when a ball out the wing from Oisin kelly saw Roan Brennan go on a run to be taking down and be awarded a peanlty. Roan Brennan made no mistake in putting it away.Annes tails were up and they tried hard with some great passing only be get awarded another penalty,Roan Brennan stepped up again to hit the back of the net but this time the ref disallowed the goal due to a mix up with a player running into the box. But Annes never gave up and a ball to the waiting Sean Rowan saw him hit top corner to make it 2 1. Annes were flying at this stage but Slaney caught them on the break but Annes keeper made a great save and set up the next goal with a long ball to Dinh kaye who chipped the keeper. The game wasnt over yet as Slaney were then rewarded a goal and slotted it away . The game was now all to play for and Slaney pushed hard but Annes stayed strong in defence. Annes were to be hit with another blow as a St Annes player recieved a second yellow and was sent to the line. Slaneys tales were up and Annes were down to 10 men but the saints fought hard to see the game out and leave with the 3 points. This game had everything was very enjoyable. All for Slaney played well. Some stand out players for St Annes were Andrew Knowles,Eolann Maguire, Oisin Kelly ,Sean Rowan, Glen Flannery to name a few but over all a great St Annes performance from the whole team.

Vale Wanderers AFC v Hanover Harps AFC
Hanover grab all 3 points
U13 div 1 03/12 12:15
Vale Wanderers AFC 0 - 5 Hanover Harps AFC

The action in this game started quickly with Hanover being awarded a penalty in the first 5 mins for a Vale handball in the box. A well struck shot went narrowly wide of the left post and Vale were let off the hook. This was followed by a period of sustained Hanover pressure and despite some determined defending from Vale, it resulted in the opening goal of the game for Hanover after 15 mins. Despite an even enough second quarter, Hanover scored another goal just before half time.

At 2-0 it was still all to play for, but Vale struggled to cope with Hanover pressure immediately after the break and a Vale own goal from a Hanover corner and another fine Hanover strike within 2 mins of each other killed this game off as a contest.

Vale showed some fight for the next 20 mins, but the last 10 mins saw legs tire in an under strength Vale team with a number of first team players missing. Vale were over-run by some fine attacking moves, with Hanover adding another 3 goals.

This was good win for Hanover who showed some fine attacking qualities alongside a solid defence.

Bobby Mulhearne x 1

Charlie Mchugh x 1

Burrin Celtic AFC v Clerihan
Burrin progress after extra time
03/12 12:30
Burrin Celtic AFC 3 - 2 Clerihan

In the last 16 tie in the south East region of the SFAI trophy, Burrin came out on top after extra time. Both teams played some really good football and made it a very enjoyable match to watch. Clerihan scored their first against the run of play and defended well, forcing burrin to play the ball backwards a number of times. Burrin had enough chances to win this game by 5 goals but just didn’t go their way in the first half after hitting the post a few times, and the Clerihan keeper having a brilliant game. Clerihan scored their second just before half time and started to look more comfortable. Burrin came out a different team in the second half as super sub Tadhg Campbell scoring twice to bring the game to extra time. Extra time was completely dominated from the home side. Ryan Abbey looked like he was going to score a worldie from outside the box after connecting perfectly from a volley but it just going over the bar. The winner came from Bobby Finn after a scramble in the box and he slotted it home to progress Burrin.

Best for Burrin Celtic we’re Colm Donald, Daire Nolan, Robbie Kelliher and Glen Cantwell.

HT 0-2

It was a completely different Bally performance in the second half and responded with a well taken goal from Adam Joyce and a superb free kick from Eoin condren on 56 mins to draw the teams level. Bally put on relentless pressure and in the dying minutes Conor Walsh put jake Fitzpatrick through one on one and Fitz made no mistake putting it into the bottom corner to win the game for the Bally boys.

St Patrick's Boys AFC v St Michaels
03/12 11:00
St Patrick's Boys AFC 4 - 0 St Michaels

St. Pats march on to the next round with an excellent squad performance against a very good St Michaels team. The first 20 mins both teams cancelled each other out but then Pats started to take control with Mauro Perez and Zak Hernan winning the battles in midfield. Mark Buggy looked very dangerous throughout the whole game but the 1st half ended 0-0.

Second half started and Pats found themselves in front with great work down the left from Mikey Whelan and David Mcdonald. David crossed and great ball into the St. Michael's box and was met by the head of Brian Dos Santos to make it a well deserved 1-0 lead. After the goal Pats were in complete control and soon added a second when Warrith Oyeniyi finished off a great move to make it 2-0. 5 mins later Jamie Hyland finished a great shot into the Michael's goal to make it 3-0. Shane Gurry added a 4th goal with a brilliant long range shot to beat the Michael's keeper. Eanna Dunican was causing a lot of trouble down the right and was unlucky on a number of occasions not to get a goal. Michales tried their best to get into the game but on the day the St. Pats players were to strong. Brilliant squad performance from all the St.Pats players with Mark Buggy, Mauro Perez, Mikey Whelan and Zak Hernan all standing out.
