Burrin leave it late to see off Bally
U16 03/10 10:00
Ballymurphy Celtic FC 1 - 2 Burrin Celtic AFC

Ballymurphys first U16 team were very unlucky not to take all three points this morning and lead for most of the game.

Bally started the better and had a few half chances before Tim Brennan opened the scoring on 20 mins with a well taken goal. Bally had further chances to go into the break further ahead but didn't take them. HT 1-0.

The second half was a different story with Burrin dominating the entire half and should have been level early into the half only for the goal to be disallowed. This spurred Burrin on and there relentless pressure finally paid off with just four minutes remaining on the clock when a cross was smashed home on the volley at the back post by Dylan O Reilly who’s powerful effort gave the keeper no chance. Burrin got the three points they deserved when Evan Corr scored in stoppage time with a free kick from outside the box

Best for Bally were Gavin Murphy, Lake Joyce and Tim Brennan.

Burrin had a great all round team performance

Burrin Celtic AFC 5 - 2 New Oak Boys AFC
Lovely day for a match in Ballon today and it turned out to be a cracker, Burrin were out of the blocks from the first whistle and within 5 minutes Dylan Ruane had the ball in the net to put Burrin 1 up, Ruslan Medvedevs made it 2 0 to Burrin 3 minutes later but Burrin didnt have time to settle on their lead when Kasper Zarzycki broke the offside trap to slide the ball past the advancing Burrin keeper for 2 1, 5 minutes later it was all square when this time Bobby Jordan broke through to finish smartly and leave things level at half time. At the start of the second half there were chances for both teams but couldnt be converted until Burrin were awarded a penalty for a hand ball, with New Oak a man down Aaron Dowling neatly slid home the penalty for 3 2, with the next goal vital and both sides squandering chances a cross from the left missed everyone until Jack Kelly came in at the back post to volley an unstoppable shot to the roof of the net to make it 4 2, New Oak defended resolutely but with 5 minutes to go Billy Flynn found himself in the box unmarked and drilled home from close range and so it finished 5 2 to Burrin, great credit to both sides for a very entertaining game. Best for New Oak were Kasper Zarzycki, Bobby Jordan and Adam O Neill. Best for Burrin were Aaron Dowling, Ruslan Medvedevs and Edward O Byrne.

Hanover set up a winner takes all encounter with Crettyard after ending Burrin's interest in this seasons U16 league. In what was always going to a tight affair chances were scarce in the first half, Celtic's Dylan McCann at centre back and Jack Curran in the goal dealing with anything Harps threw at them. Free kicks from Cillian McGrath and Ronan Quinlan, both saved by Curran the closest Hanover came in the first half. At the other end Jason Brennan dealt well with a series of Burrin corners just before the break. The second half saw a much improved Harps take to the field and within 10 minutes they had 3 glorious chances to open the scoring. Stephen Smyth was first up as his effort came back off the crossbar, a last ditch tackle in the six yard box halted Jack Dunne before a 20 yard drive from Dylan Doyle smashed off the upright. Just as it appeared that Celtic had weathered the storm Cillian MaGrath drove down the wing from left back and fired home from 25 yards to put Hanover ahead with 20 minutes left. Burrin did try to respond but with Kyle Foley, Daniel Rossiter and Mikee Horohan in mean mood they seldom looked like troubling the Harps goal despite the best efforts of Dylan McCann and Mark Canavan as Hanover held on for a vital 3 points thanks to the efforts of Jack Murphy, Jack Begley, Tyris O'Rock and Pablo Sanz.

On a typical windy day at the Valley, this was going to be a case of who could capitalize with the wind and both defenses stood up to the mark.Fiacchs started off as Champions would putting together some nice passages of play with Hannah Kefra,Hannah Mathews and Ali O' Connor combining well to test the Celtic Defence. But Sarah Duffy, Sorcha Kinsella, and Grace O Gorman kept the Fiacchs attack frustrated.Leah Mannion, Ava Bolger and Sophia Slattery came alive and started to pressurize the Fiacchs defence ,Celtics Anna Thronton worked tirelessly up front but couldnt hit the onion sack.In the second half Fiacchs turned the screw but the Celtic defence and the unbelievable Hannah Hutton in goal kept the Celitc goal intact and both sides shared the points.A brilliant game of soccer played on the deck and in great spirit was a great advertisement for Girls soccer in Carlow.

Burrin Celtic AFC 1 - 2 Vale Wanderers AFC Black
Very tough conditions for a game here today in Ballon. Burrin with a strong wind behind them started strong and put the Vale defence under pressure but Vale responded well and with the long ball had the Burrin defence scrambling numerous times but it was the home side that took the lead when a bit of a goal mouth scramble ended with Ruslan Medvedev slotting the ball into an empty net, Vale got back level when a wayward ball in the Burrin defence found Aaron Murphy on his own and he finished with confidence to leave it 1 1 at half time. The second half started much like the first with both sides threatening but not creating anything clear cut but when another clearance from the Burrin defence deflected off Conor Kavanagh and still with lots to do he took the ball forward and beat the keeper 1 v 1 to take all the points. Best for Vale were David Connely and Cianan Nolan. Best for Burrin were Aaron Dowling and Ruslan Medvedev.
