Clinical Vale secure victory
u13 League div 2 07/12 12:15
Vale Wanderers AFC Green 4 - 2 Hanover Harps AFC
This game proved to be a very lively affair which was a credit to both sides who were short on numbers on the day. And although a hard-fought victory for the home side ensued the scoreline does belie the efforts of a very good game and courageous Hanover side.
Hanover started very brightly and did fashion a few early chances but some very good defending by the Vale lads kept the sides level for the opening ten minutes. As the half wore on however the Carlow lads continued to pressurise and their efforts were duly rewarded when Alex Carey scored the opening goal. The lead proved short-lived however as Mikey Dowling scored an excellent equalizer through a stunning free-kick. However once again up stepped Hanover to regain the lead after some sloppy play in the Vale backline allowed Ruari Lyons to finish nicely in the bottom corner.
Into the second half Vale’s superior numbers began to tell and Mikey Dowling secured his second after some great play down the right flank. James Kavanagh then made it three for the Vale lads with momentum now clearly with the home side. Hanover continued to rally however and gave as good as they got as the midfield battle continued. Nevertheless, it was Vale who struck again when Ruarc O’Neill slotted home nicely from inside the area. The game now opened up even more as Hanover continued to press for that elusive third goal. But despite some clever and innovative play this wasn’t to be their day.
Overall a very entertaining affair with Vale deservedly taking the spoils after a great second-half performance. Hanover can also be proud of their efforts however in light of being a man down for the duration of the second half. On the day the goalscorer’s for Vale were extremely clinical and for Hanover keeper Bobby Jordan played his heart out on the day.

Hanover set up a winner takes all encounter with Crettyard after ending Burrin's interest in this seasons U16 league. In what was always going to a tight affair chances were scarce in the first half, Celtic's Dylan McCann at centre back and Jack Curran in the goal dealing with anything Harps threw at them. Free kicks from Cillian McGrath and Ronan Quinlan, both saved by Curran the closest Hanover came in the first half. At the other end Jason Brennan dealt well with a series of Burrin corners just before the break. The second half saw a much improved Harps take to the field and within 10 minutes they had 3 glorious chances to open the scoring. Stephen Smyth was first up as his effort came back off the crossbar, a last ditch tackle in the six yard box halted Jack Dunne before a 20 yard drive from Dylan Doyle smashed off the upright. Just as it appeared that Celtic had weathered the storm Cillian MaGrath drove down the wing from left back and fired home from 25 yards to put Hanover ahead with 20 minutes left. Burrin did try to respond but with Kyle Foley, Daniel Rossiter and Mikee Horohan in mean mood they seldom looked like troubling the Harps goal despite the best efforts of Dylan McCann and Mark Canavan as Hanover held on for a vital 3 points thanks to the efforts of Jack Murphy, Jack Begley, Tyris O'Rock and Pablo Sanz.

Hanover Harps 7 v 1 New Oak

Hanover Harps took the 3 points after a strong performance in the plots this morning. It was a tight game at the beginning with New Oak almost taking the lead after a long ball into the box caused some confusion. Hanover went on to take the lead minutes later when Senan Ryan nipped in between two new oak defenders to finish after a good cross by Roland Sanni. Hanover went 2 up when Roland Sanni drilled a ball hard into the corner after a nice through ball by Ryan Fitzgerald. Riogan Doran made it 3 with a fine lob after running on to a long ball by Senan Ryan. 3-0 at half time. Hanover went 4-0 up shortly after the break when a cross field ball by Senan Ryan landed at the feet of Roland Sanni who volleyed emphatically to the roof of the net from over 20 yards out. New Oak got back into the game then when a corner kick broke to Jomilio El Salvador who finished well through a crowd of bodies. Hanover reacted quickly when a fine run and cross by Ryan Fitzgerald was volleyed to the net by Roland Sanni. Hanover then went 6-1 to the good with a carbon copy of the previous with the same two players involved. Ryan Fitzgerald then went on a mazy run at the end of which he finished coolly to the corner to make it 7-1.

A good squad performance from Hanover with Roland Sanni, Keelan Walker Burnett and Ryan Fitzgerald prominent.

Due to a number of factors New Oak were forced to start with seven players. As expected Hanover dominated possession and knocked the ball around well and created an early chance for Brandon Kelly which was kept out by a combination of Lee Purcell and the post. Hanover kept pressing and Jack Begley found the top corner with a fine strike to open the scoring. Unfortunately an injury to a New Oak player meant the game had to finish up early to give the points to Hanover.

St Patrick's Boys AFC 1 - 2 Hanover Harps AFC

What a cracker of a game between two strong teams who are battling for the league title.

The game started as expected, with lots of pace end to end. Both teams created a number of chances, and both teams had the opportunity to go ahead before the break. But neither team were able to break th deadlock, with keeper Ruairc Murray making a magnificent save close to the end of the first half to keep the sides even.

The second half started with the same high tempo, and the league’s top goal scorer, Sean Murphy, managed to break through and kill the silence by hitting the net just a couple of minutes into the second half. Then Pat’s were denided the opportunity to go two a shed with a goal disallowed for off-side.

Then Hanover really began to pile on the pressure, and managed to bring the sides even twenty minutes into the second half.

Just when it seemed like a draw was going to be the end result, Hanover scored anther goal. It appeared that the ball had run over the line for a goal kick, however Hanover managed to slot the ball past the St Pat’s keeper, to make it 1:2 to the visitors at pretty much the last kick of the game.

A super game, with perhaps a few controversial decisions, nonetheless, Hanover come away with the three points to keep the league title chase alive.

No best players as a great performance by both teams.

Hanover were simply impossible to deal with this morning scoring 9. Damien Corrrigan with 2 along with Riogan Doran. Sean Ryan, Ryan Fitzgerald, Jamie Wlaker, Daire Dooley, Roland Sanni all chipping in with a goal each. A great all round team performance based on simple but effected football. Killeshin with some key players missing fought as hard as they could but to no avail, Zach Owens with the only shot on target in the second half. Jack Brennan put in some shift along with Tristan Owens but in the end the mountain was to high. Killeshin knew its was going to be tough against a well organised Hanover side and that it was.

It wasn’t long though before Fiaccs were 1 up with a great pass by Filip Nykiel to setup Zak Hernan who slotted the ball away to make it 1-0. Not long after Zak Hernan made it 2-0 with a screamer of a shot to rattle the top of the Hanover net. Hanover did not give up and tried hard with some great defending. The game ended 8-0 with hatricks from Zak Hernan and Ruairi Mcevoy Hutton. One from Shayne Atkinson and one from Jan Flejszar. Best for Hanover Oran Delaney, Jack Keating & Rian Brennan. Hanover took the three points after a tough battle with Killeshin in The Plots on Saturday afternoon. The final score doesn't tell the story of a game that was tense and tight with no quarter asked or given. The game began with few chances as both teams fought hard to gain an advantage in midfield.

Killeshin almost took the lead after a corner when three goal attempts were brilliantly blocked by different Hanover players determined to keep their goal intact.

The home team began to get on top approaching half time and a tremendous Sam McHugh half volley came back out off the underside of the bar with the keeper beaten.Half time 0-0. The first goal was vital and Hanover got it when Lee Doran finished to the bottom corner from a knock down by Eoin Ryan.

The lead was doubled when Ronan Sullivan headed home a corner with twenty minutes to go.Eoin Ryan made the game safe when turning a couple of defenders in the box and firing home.Sam Mchugh got the goal his performance deserved with a good finish for number four before Ronan Sullivan had the final say with his second,a fine individual goal to make it 5-0.In the last minute with the points safe, Dylan Nolan ran 40 yards to win a ball which summed up a great team performance from 1 to 14 from Hanover. Another assist from Horohan 10 minutes into the second half saw Brandon Kelly volley home from 8 yards to put the destination of the points beyond doubt.

This was a game that had it all but a good Pat's side walked away with all the points.

This was a game that was played under perfect conditions, the ground was firm, grass long and weather perfect with no rain or wind.

The game started well for Pat's who dominated the opening 5 minutes of play. Just as Hannover looked like they were getting into the game Pat's scored through Sean Murphy who burst through the defence and slotted to the left of the goalie. After that it was a 50/50 game with both teams attacking for the rest of the half.

The second half started well for Pat's who again attacked and scored after about 10 minutes from a cross into the box from Sergio which was tapped in by Angel. Hannover were down but not out and nearly scored through a clever shot which hit the post and was cleared by the Pat's defence. Hannover never gave up but as the game went on Pat's dominate same.

Scorers for Pat's - Sean Murphy and Super Sergio.

Best for Pat's - Charlie McNamara, Sean Murphy and Sean O'Neill. No man of the match but overall this was a great Pat's team performance.
