Vale Wanderers AFC v Hanover Harps AFC
Teams battle gale, torrents of rain and each other.
U13 League 28/11 10:00
Vale Wanderers AFC 2 - 8 Hanover Harps AFC

Despite very difficult conditions overhead and underfoot both teams produced an entertaining and exciting match .

The game started in dry conditions and for first 15 minutes defences were on top before Hanover opened the scoring.

Kyle O'Neill then equalised with a brilliant individual goal that saw him beat four players before passing the ball to the net.

Hanover retook the lead before Eoin Kirby scored a clever goal following an excellent through ball from Josh Hughes. Hanover and weather then took over as rain and wind wosened and the score at half time was 4:2.

The wind picked up again for the second half and vale struggled in the teeth of the gale with the ball being blown backwards on several occasions .

Vale's keeper Zack Kelly had an excellent match in his first day at number one.

Adam Maher had an excellent match at fullback and Timmy Clarke was also very impressive beside the always dependable Jack Dunne in defence while Mark FitzGerald and Cian Brennan worked worked hard in midfield.

Evergreen v Hanover Harps AFC
u14 sfai 14/09 16:00
Evergreen 3 - 2 Hanover Harps AFC

Hanover started brightly and should really have been ahead before eventually taking the lead when a shot by Jamie Coakley was spilled into the path of Roland Sanni who finished to the net. Hanover were still on top but conceded an equaliser against the run of play when a rebound from a free kick was followed up by the Evergreen striker. Hanover went looking for a goal in response and were rewarded when a fine finish to the roof of the net by Ryan Fitzgerald made it 2-1. Hanover could have scored more but some last ditch defending by Evergreen kept it 2-1 at half time. Hanover were very slow to come out of the blocks in the second half and conceded 2 goals in 5 minutes both from set pieces. Hanover pressed for an equaliser for most of the second half but just couldn't get it having 2 balls cleared off the line and a number of chances narrowly missed.

Disappointing result after a good performance for a lot of the game but lapse just after half time proved costly.

Best for Hanover were Ryan Fitzgerald, Eoin Myers and Jamie Walker.

Keeping it to a 1-0 game at halftime. Second half started the same as the first as both teams had equal opportunities to score. Burrin Celtic AFC 6 - 0 Hanover Harps AFC

Burrin Celtic won convincingly at home against league leaders Hanover Harps in windy conditions at The Valley. Celtic benefitted from the wind in the first half, keeping their visitors pinned in their own half for long periods. Cian Byrne broke the deadlock in the 12th minute with a strike from just inside the box reaching the bottom corner of the Hanover net. Two minutes later, Jamie Behan put his team two up when a corner kick fell to feet in the penalty area and Jamie made no mistake with his finish. A display of skilled free taking followed from Celtic’s centre half, Fionn McCaffrey, as Hanover offences outside the penalty area were punished, resulting in a hat trick to remember for the Burrin Celtic player. Hanover faced an uphill struggle in the second half but to their credit they pressurised Celtic’s defence throughout. However, Celtic players were determined not to concede and they continued to look dangerous on the break. Myles Hutton finished the scoring mid way through the half as he controlled the ball in the box and finished from close range. Nurney Villa AFC v Hanover Harps AFC
U14 League 19/03 11:00
Nurney Villa AFC 1 - 4 Hanover Harps AFC

A depleted Nurney Villa side had to resort to playing 3 underage players, who all acquitted themselves well - but it was Hanover who started the better and stronger. Nurney were at times playing some neat football and they certainly let their opponents know that they were in a game, as they fought tenaciously for every ball. Hanover went 0-1 up through Jake Murphy, quickly followed by another from Tadgh Dunne for 0-2 and just before half-time Josh Lacken made it 0-3, although, Nurney had a couple of chances that both fell to Brooklyn Dermody, but they were spurned.

In the second - half Nurney had a really good spell that shocked Hanover, as they really gave it a go and with about 15 minutes gone a good run and pass by Brooklyn Dermody released Paidraig Nolan who fired past the Hanover keeper from the edge of the box for 1-3 and all to play for. Try as they might Nurney couldn't managed to get another goal, which would have made the match very interesting and near the end the game was sealed by full-back Ben Crotty who fired home a screamer from all of 30 yards for a final score of 1-4.

Best for hard working Nurney were, Liam Nolan, Padraig Nolan and Mark Dermody, whilst standing out for Hanover were Kyle Khumalo, Edward Hatton and Corey Connolly.
