Hanover Harps AFC 4 - 0 Bagenalstown AFC

Hanover Harps 4

Bagenalstown 0

Hanover welcomed Bagenalstown to The Plots, the game started well with both teams having equal amounts of opportunity. Half way threw the first half Hanover opened up the scoring when TJ Brennan crossed the ball off his left foot to find Arda Destire waiting in the box and he made no mistake in putting it in the back of the net. Bagenalstown put on loads of pressure on Hanover defense but were unfortunate not to get a score in the first half.

Halftime

Hanover 1 Bagenalstown 0

Second half started with Hanover putting on the pressure in which Gael O Rock got a through ball from TJ Brennan and put it the bottom corner to make the score 2-0, shortly after Gael O Rock again took the ball nicely on his right foot and placed it in the top corner. Hanover seem to be getting on top when Bagenalstown no 8 Niall Power got a one on one with Hanover keeper Conor Mc Daid who pulled off a fantastic save to keep the score 3-0. Five minutes from the end Hanover got a free from the half way line and John Corcoran stepped up to the plate and left the ball on the top left corner to make Hanover 4. Bagenalstown never let up but could not find the back of the Hanover net in which saw the game finish Hanover 4 Bagenalstown 0

Best for Hanover Gael O Rock, John Corcoran, Conor Mc Daid.

Best for Bagenalstown Rory. O Brien, Oran Doyle, David Reddy.

Hanover Harps AFC 7 - 1 New Oak Boys AFC

Hanover Harps 7 v 1 New Oak

Hanover Harps took the 3 points after a strong performance in the plots this morning. It was a tight game at the beginning with New Oak almost taking the lead after a long ball into the box caused some confusion. Hanover went on to take the lead minutes later when Senan Ryan nipped in between two new oak defenders to finish after a good cross by Roland Sanni. Hanover went 2 up when Roland Sanni drilled a ball hard into the corner after a nice through ball by Ryan Fitzgerald. Riogan Doran made it 3 with a fine lob after running on to a long ball by Senan Ryan. 3-0 at half time. Hanover went 4-0 up shortly after the break when a cross field ball by Senan Ryan landed at the feet of Roland Sanni who volleyed emphatically to the roof of the net from over 20 yards out. New Oak got back into the game then when a corner kick broke to Jomilio El Salvador who finished well through a crowd of bodies. Hanover reacted quickly when a fine run and cross by Ryan Fitzgerald was volleyed to the net by Roland Sanni. Hanover then went 6-1 to the good with a carbon copy of the previous with the same two players involved. Ryan Fitzgerald then went on a mazy run at the end of which he finished coolly to the corner to make it 7-1.

A good squad performance from Hanover with Roland Sanni, Keelan Walker Burnett and Ryan Fitzgerald prominent.

Best for New Oak were Jayden Kelly, Shane Grant and Jomilio El Salvador

New Oak Boys AFC 0 - 3 Hanover Harps AFC
Due to a number of factors New Oak were forced to start with seven players. As expected Hanover dominated possession and knocked the ball around well and created an early chance for Brandon Kelly which was kept out by a combination of Lee Purcell and the post. Hanover kept pressing and Jack Begley found the top corner with a fine strike to open the scoring. Unfortunately an injury to a New Oak player meant the game had to finish up early to give the points to Hanover.

Tough game
U14 League Div 1 25/01 14:00
St Patrick's Boys AFC 1 - 2 Hanover Harps AFC

What a cracker of a game between two strong teams who are battling for the league title.

The game started as expected, with lots of pace end to end. Both teams created a number of chances, and both teams had the opportunity to go ahead before the break. But neither team were able to break th deadlock, with keeper Ruairc Murray making a magnificent save close to the end of the first half to keep the sides even.

The second half started with the same high tempo, and the league’s top goal scorer, Sean Murphy, managed to break through and kill the silence by hitting the net just a couple of minutes into the second half. Then Pat’s were denided the opportunity to go two a shed with a goal disallowed for off-side.

Then Hanover really began to pile on the pressure, and managed to bring the sides even twenty minutes into the second half.

Just when it seemed like a draw was going to be the end result, Hanover scored anther goal. It appeared that the ball had run over the line for a goal kick, however Hanover managed to slot the ball past the St Pat’s keeper, to make it 1:2 to the visitors at pretty much the last kick of the game.

A super game, with perhaps a few controversial decisions, nonetheless, Hanover come away with the three points to keep the league title chase alive.

No best players as a great performance by both teams.

U13 League 26/03 11:15
Burrin Celtic AFC 6 - 0 Hanover Harps AFC
Burrin Celtic won convincingly at home against league leaders Hanover Harps in windy conditions at The Valley. Celtic benefitted from the wind in the first half, keeping their visitors pinned in their own half for long periods. Cian Byrne broke the deadlock in the 12th minute with a strike from just inside the box reaching the bottom corner of the Hanover net. Two minutes later, Jamie Behan put his team two up when a corner kick fell to feet in the penalty area and Jamie made no mistake with his finish. A display of skilled free taking followed from Celtic’s centre half, Fionn McCaffrey, as Hanover offences outside the penalty area were punished, resulting in a hat trick to remember for the Burrin Celtic player. Hanover faced an uphill struggle in the second half but to their credit they pressurised Celtic’s defence throughout. However, Celtic players were determined not to concede and they continued to look dangerous on the break. Myles Hutton finished the scoring mid way through the half as he controlled the ball in the box and finished from close range. Best for Burrin Celtic were Lorcan Canavan, Fionn McCaffrey, Jack O’Neill and Cian Brennan. Best for Hanover Harps were Adam McCarron, Bryan McMahon and Alan Geoghegan.

Nurney Villa AFC v Hanover Harps AFC
U14 League 19/03 11:00
Nurney Villa AFC 1 - 4 Hanover Harps AFC

A depleted Nurney Villa side had to resort to playing 3 underage players, who all acquitted themselves well - but it was Hanover who started the better and stronger. Nurney were at times playing some neat football and they certainly let their opponents know that they were in a game, as they fought tenaciously for every ball. Hanover went 0-1 up through Jake Murphy, quickly followed by another from Tadgh Dunne for 0-2 and just before half-time Josh Lacken made it 0-3, although, Nurney had a couple of chances that both fell to Brooklyn Dermody, but they were spurned.

In the second - half Nurney had a really good spell that shocked Hanover, as they really gave it a go and with about 15 minutes gone a good run and pass by Brooklyn Dermody released Paidraig Nolan who fired past the Hanover keeper from the edge of the box for 1-3 and all to play for. Try as they might Nurney couldn't managed to get another goal, which would have made the match very interesting and near the end the game was sealed by full-back Ben Crotty who fired home a screamer from all of 30 yards for a final score of 1-4.

Best for hard working Nurney were, Liam Nolan, Padraig Nolan and Mark Dermody, whilst standing out for Hanover were Kyle Khumalo, Edward Hatton and Corey Connolly.

The two teams were evenly matched and both created a number of chances with some great battles in midfield. Harps back four and midfield began to gain the upper hand in the second. Hanover kept pressing and created more chances but couldn't get a second goal to kill off the game. Credit to St Pat's, they were a threat until the end.

This was a superb team performance from everyone of Hanover Harps players today.

Best for St Pat's were Mark Behan, Kian Lacey and Darragh O Donoghue.
