St Anne's welcomed Hanover this morning in what we knew was going to be a tight match. Both teams were evenly matched. Hanover came out the better side in the first half, it took Anne's a good while to settle on the ball and once they did they started to create a few chances which brought the best out of Hanover's keeper who carried out some great saves. Hanover went on the break and narrowly missed putting it wide, St Anne's took a short kick out which backfired and Hanovers Owen Fitzharris was quick to react and punished St Anne's. Anne's heads dropped and Hanover went on the attack again with a ball over the top which forced Anne's keeper Conor Brennan to pull off the save of the match. First half ended 1 nil to Hanover.
Anne's came out in the second half fighting and Orran Langton was winning all the battles in the midfield, Tiarnan O'Donoghue went on a run down the right wing and scored bringing Anne's back level. Anne's were back in the game.... Tiarnan O'Donoghue made another run along the wing and put a great cross in Hanovers box which was met superbly by the head of Roan Brennan. Hanover changed things up and went 3 in defence and pushed more players up the field and they created a few chances but Anne's defence held strong and fed the ball to Roan Brennan who played a lovely through ball to Will McGrath who made no mistake in putting the ball in the back of the net and secured Anne's win.
