St Anne's AFC 3 - 1 Hanover Harps AFC

St Anne's welcomed Hanover this morning in what we knew was going to be a tight match. Both teams were evenly matched. Hanover came out the better side in the first half, it took Anne's a good while to settle on the ball and once they did they started to create a few chances which brought the best out of Hanover's keeper who carried out some great saves. Hanover went on the break and narrowly missed putting it wide, St Anne's took a short kick out which backfired and Hanovers Owen Fitzharris was quick to react and punished St Anne's. Anne's heads dropped and Hanover went on the attack again with a ball over the top which forced Anne's keeper Conor Brennan to pull off the save of the match. First half ended 1 nil to Hanover.

Anne's came out in the second half fighting and Orran Langton was winning all the battles in the midfield, Tiarnan O'Donoghue went on a run down the right wing and scored bringing Anne's back level. Anne's were back in the game.... Tiarnan O'Donoghue made another run along the wing and put a great cross in Hanovers box which was met superbly by the head of Roan Brennan. Hanover changed things up and went 3 in defence and pushed more players up the field and they created a few chances but Anne's defence held strong and fed the ball to Roan Brennan who played a lovely through ball to Will McGrath who made no mistake in putting the ball in the back of the net and secured Anne's win.

Parkville United AFC 2 - 0 Hanover Harps AFC
Parkville welcomed Hanover Harps to Hawkins Lane and both teams served up an exciting game full of incident. Hanover started the stronger of the two teams and dominated much of the early possession and can count themselves unlucky not to have been rewarded with a goal. The Parkville defence weather the early storm and as the game progressed slowly began to play themselves into the match. Approaching the 20-minute mark Oran Alcock pounced on a loose ball in midfield and played a first-time pass over the top of the Hanover defence. Joe Leacy was quickest to react and picked up the ball some 40 yards out from the Hanover goal, dribbled goalwards and slotted it past the on-rushing keeper. The remainder of the first half was an even affair with both teams creating a number of half chances. The second half saw Parkville up their game with Ryan Mulligan and John Nolan getting to grips with the Hanover midfield. Parkville pressed for a second and pushed further up the field. While Parkville enjoyed more possession Hanover always looked threatening on the counter and created several chances but found the Parkville keeper, Cillian Maxwell, equal to the task pulling off a number of fine saves. The second goal came midway through the second half courtesy of some route one football. Jake Leacy launched a goal kick straight down the middle of the park and the strong breeze took it beyond the last defender. Joe Leacy was once again quickest to react, dribbling the ball goalwards, and despite the pressure from the Hanover defenders giving chase, kept his nerve to put Parkville two up. Hanover spent the remainder of the second half attacking the opposition goal, but the Parkville defence aided by the outstanding Cillian Maxwell, held firm to see out the game. Both teams had several strong performances however the scoreline could have been very different if not for the Parkville keeper who displayed great bravery throughout the game.

The final scoreline doesn't tell the full story of a good battle between Hanover and St Pat's Green in The Plots on Saturday afternoon. The visiting keeper made an excellent save in the first minute and that set the tone for the first half as Hanover struggled to make the breakthrough while Pat's were dangerous on the break. When the home team did breach the defensive line, they were denied by the woodwork on a couple of occasions.Just on half time,Sean Hayden put the home team in front, getting the final touch on a Bailee Cooney corner.

The second half began in the same manner and it took until after the hour to double the lead with a surging run and finish from Aaron Cunningham Burke.Pats were always in the game and the next goal was to prove crucial. Dermot Lawlor got it for Hanover, arriving at the back post to finish a good team move. The home team pushed on in the last 15 minutes and Ross Moran scored a terrific volley before Aaron Cunningham Burke made it 5-0 from the penalty spot. A hard fought win for Hanover who had good performances from Dara Nolan, Darragh Redmond, Eoin Ryan and Lander Fernandez. A good team effort for St Pat's particularly their keeper.

Vale Wanderers AFC 0 - 5 Hanover Harps AFC

The action in this game started quickly with Hanover being awarded a penalty in the first 5 mins for a Vale handball in the box. A well struck shot went narrowly wide of the left post and Vale were let off the hook. This was followed by a period of sustained Hanover pressure and despite some determined defending from Vale, it resulted in the opening goal of the game for Hanover after 15 mins. Despite an even enough second quarter, Hanover scored another goal just before half time.

At 2-0 it was still all to play for, but Vale struggled to cope with Hanover pressure immediately after the break and a Vale own goal from a Hanover corner and another fine Hanover strike within 2 mins of each other killed this game off as a contest.

Vale showed some fight for the next 20 mins, but the last 10 mins saw legs tire in an under strength Vale team with a number of first team players missing. Vale were over-run by some fine attacking moves, with Hanover adding another 3 goals.

This was good win for Hanover who showed some fine attacking qualities alongside a solid defence.
