Hanover Harps AFC v Milltown United AFC
U16 League 05/10 11:30
Hanover Harps AFC 1 - 0 Milltown United AFC

Hanover Harps 1

Milltown United 0

Kyle Nolan's header just 10 minutes in proved to be the winner as Harps took the points on Saturday. Hanover dominated the game for long periods and hit the front early when Jack Dunne's pin point cross was headed home at the back post by Nolan. Harps almost had a second shortly afterwards but Albert Ventosa's header from a Cillian McGrath corner was brilliantly tipped onto the crossbar by Milltown keeper Kyle Foley. Foley denied Jack Dunne before half time as he raced off his line to save at the striker's feet. The second half was more of the same, Hanover creating chances only to be denied by man of the match Foley. The keeper saved well from Dylan Doyle before diving full stretch to tip Jack Murphy's effort around the post midway through the half. With just the one goal in it there was always a chance for the visitors to catch Harps on the break but a back line superbly led by Cillian McGrath rarely looked in trouble as Harps claimed the win. Best for Hanover were Jack Murphy, Cillian McGrath and Pablo Sanz

Milltown started well and had a chance within the first Minute, when Cormac Kinsella broke through the St Fiacc's defence but was denied by some fine goal keeping. After that both team's settle into the game. With a lot of football been played in the middle third. When Eoin Kavanagh won the ball in his own half made a great run up the wing passed to Adam Deacon who finish off from close range 1-0 to the home team at the break.

After the break Milltown started to pile on the pressure and Sean Kavanagh hit the upright not once or twice but 4 times just wouldn't go in (with suggestions we should move the goal). Once again when Milltown had a free on the edge of the box Oisin Kelly floated in a beautiful ball Eoin Kavanagh hit it on the volley looked like Milltown were getting there 2nd, but for one of the saves of the season by the St Fiacc's keeper. Milltown did get there second from a corner when Scott Tracey scored with a great flick. 2-0 to the home side. St Fiacc's push forward a number times and only for some fine goalkeeping from Daniel Smyth could have been level. But with eight minutes left they did get a great goal when Ben A Smith broke through the Milltown defence and finish with a powerful shot low to the net. St Fiacc's then piled on the pressure but were unable to get the equalizer. Great game of football from both teams.

Goal: Ben Smith.

Best for Milltown: Tara Long, Lorcon Doyle, Adam Connolly, Senan Darcy and Ciaran Murphy.

Goals: Adam Deacon and Scott Treacy
