St Patrick Boys got the better of Milltown during this U16 league match in The Meadows. Milltown started the game well testing the St Patrick Boys Keeper Christian Germaine who made some excellent saves to keep the game scoreless. The Pats lads responded well and created some chances for Ben Byrne Slattery, Dean Kelly & Benat De La Moreno unlucky not to score. At half time a pin point shot from Milltown Conor Meaney found the top corner of the net, Left the score 0-1 to Milltown.

St Patrick Boys responded well again at the start of the second half with a well taken goal from Mario Azcona, following some excellent build up play by Benat De La Moreno, Dean Kelly and Ronan Doyle.

Very even second half with chances for both teams but with both defences on top. St Patrick Boys got winner with 5 mins remaining following an excellent finish by Benat De La Moreno. Left the score 2:1 at fulltime.

All players from both teams played well, with Christian Germaine, Enoch Olanase, and Ronan Doyle impressing in goal and defense for St Patrick Boys.

Best for Milltown were Sean Tracey, Ed Fenlon and Tomas Joyce.

It was a lovely morning in the valley and Burrin Celtics girls played with the wind in the first half. Both teams played attacking soccer and celtic scored a great goal from Leah Fitzpatrick. Milltown Centre forward scoring a good goal too. Half time 1-1.

The second half was much the same as both teams going for it but for milltown, two late goals from Coady securing the points. It was a great display from both teams.

Best for Milltown was Coady and lyons.

Best for Burrin Celtic Charlie Salter, Leah Fitzpatrick and Molly Maher.

Vale v Milltown with both teams missing inportant players this was going to be a tight contest. Vale started with the windhad a lot more posession hitting the crossbar a few times

Milltown had a few chances in the 1st half 0_0 1st half

Second half Milltown started to put pressure on Vale

Milltown were awarded a penalty but did not score

Vale can count themshelves lucky not to be a goal down

Eventually Vale got a hold of the game and Aedan byrne scored a cracker from 20 yards Vale 1 up

Milltown got there equaliser from Tim Brennan with some sloppy defending from Vale 1_1

It was end to end stuff from both teams with Vale hitting the crossbar a few times

Vale got the break and got a well taken goal from Cormac Murphy 2_1 to vale

Milltown did not give and had chances only for the Vale keeper to keep them out

With not long to go Vales Liam Treacy made it 3_1

Milltown to there credit never gave up

On a very windy morning in Tullow, Parkville and Milltown served up a great game of football. Milltown started the game strongly playing into wind putting the Parkville defense under pressure from the first whistle.

Parkville took the lead in the 15th minute when Fiach Byrne scored from close range. Five minutes later Byrne struck again and them claimed his hatrack just before half time getting onto the end of a defence splitting pass by Luke Evans.

Half time Parkville 3 - Milltown nil.

With the wind now in their backs, Milltown went in search of a goal and were unlucky not to score early in the half.

Fiach Byrne grabbed his 4th and then very unselfishly set up Oliver Dyl to get his name on the score sheet. Dyl scored his second of the game half way through the second half and was denied his hat trick by stunning save from the Milltown keeper. The Final goal of the day came with 5 to go when Luke Denton finished from close range.

Best for Parkville were Fiach Byrne, Luke Evans, Daniel Brennan, Oliver Dyl and Josh Fitzpatrick.

Great performance by the Milltown goalie and they were very unlucky not to score some goals.

Milltown United and Vale Wanderers played out a very exciting game for the neutrals today. It was a game of two halves dictated by a strong wind. The game was a thriller from start to finish. Playing with the wind in the first half Vale went 1- 0 up when the ref deemed the ball to have crossed the line from an excellent attack by Naoise Brennan. Milltown had a number of chances to go level in the first half and went very close on several occasions. Vale attacked with confidence and got a reward 10 minutes before half time with a well taken goal by Charlie Murphy showing great composure in front of the goal. The score was 2 – 0 to vale at half time.

Milltown United came out with an attack minded formation in the second half and scored within 10 minutes with a superb volley from Declan Nolan. At 2 -1 Milltown attacked with vigour and the Vale goalkeeper pulled off a number of top class saves to deny Milltown the equaliser. The vale defence stood strong and against the run of play scored a third goal curtesy of the hard work from Sam Murphy followed by a very composed finish. Milltown mounted attack after attack and got their reward with 15 minutes to go with a second goal from Declan Nolan to put the game at 3-2. Milltown thought they had drawn level with 5 minutes remaining but the goal was deemed to be offside. The Vale defence stood united and put in a superb effort to hold on to the advantage and run out winners.

The performance from both teams was excellent in a very enjoyable game.

Best for Vale was the whole team.

Best for Milltown was also the whole team but particular mention goes to Declan Nolan who came in at half time to score two excellent goals

Hosts Baltinglass took on MillTown in a fierce match. The two sides were neck and neck the whole first half, both defending very well. A few chances came for both sides before the half but nothing was made of them. Half time saw the game score line at 0-0. Baltinglass started the better of the two in the second half. Chances from Justin Keogh and Ewan Mcrea were just wide or saved by MillTowns keeper. A foul on Ewan by a MillTown defender gave captain Tomas Parker an opportunity to put Baltinglass ahead. He struck a low well driven penalty into the left bottom corner and put the home side ahead. MillTown had a few opportunities to equalise but keeper Adam Kavanagh pulled out some great stops. A few more chances from Peter Wall and Ben Gately were well saved. Baltinglass’ back line held firm and saw out the game. Full time score line Baltinglass 1 MillTown 0.

Best for Baltinglass were: Evin Fleming, Tomas Parker, Peter Wall and Robert McHugh.

Nurney started the game with a high tempo and took the lead through calum Aughney ben collier added a second with a 35 yard freekick into the top corner

Nurney defence held the milltown attack well restricting them to a few chances calum added the 3rd in the second half while Padraig o brien added the fourth man of the match was conor Fleming who stood in for the injured josh Kearney in the centre of the defence he had a fantastic game controlling the back 4 well the game was played in a good sprint with both teams playing good football at times

Bagenalstown 1, Milltown United 1.

Honours were shared in this entertaining game of football.

Both sides played some nice football, and the visitors took the lead on 10 mins.

A cross from the left by Kevin Kavanagh was met by Ronan Lawlor to power a fine header to the net.

Bagenalstown were stirred into action and both Sean Kelly and Adam Walsh came close with left-footed strikes.

The home side regained parity on 35 minutes, when a super strike by James Lillis flew in off the underside of the crossbar.

Town were in the ascendancy in the second half, and went close with a header from Sean Wall.

Milltown were always dangerous, and Liam McDonnell cleared off the line on 70 minutes.

Best for Milltown were Kyle Foley and Declan Nolan.

Bagnealstown had fine performances from Wilson Gao, Ryan Jeffers and Liam McDonnell.

Miltown United won this game 2-1 showing dreamt determination to hold out a game Nurney Villa side.

Nurney opened brightly and created some chances with some nice passing football. They were rewarded in the 12rh minute when a quick ball into Billy Konsowlas, on the edge of the Miltown box, allowed him time to place a shot past the advancing Miltown keeper for the games opening score. This kick started Miltown into life and 4 minutes later the hard working Alex Carroll scored a super goal to level the game 1-1.

Both side were creating chances and playing well but once again it was Coast Cahill who produced the winning goal in the 24th minute to put Miltown 2-1 ahead at the break.

Although there was no score for either side in the second half there was lots of excitement for the supporters. It was end to end stuff with Miltown looking to get another score to kill off the game and Nurnuy trying to get an equaliser. Both defenses stood tall and despite some great chances and lots of endeavour the game ended 2-1 to Miltown. Best on the day for Nurney were Tony Nolan,Darragh Nolan and Billy Ryan.

For Miltown this truly was a team effort with a special mention for Darragh Fitzgerald for some brilliant tackling and also the Redmond brothers Jamie and Darragh.

Milltown United hosted Burrin Celtic in very icy conditions on Saturday morning. Both sides eager to play the last game of this round. Burrin Celtic got off to the ideal start with an early goal after 5 minutes scored by Mark Canavan. The game ebbed and flowed for much of the first half with Milltown coming very close to equalising in the 20th Minute. However a through ball put Josh Fernandez in on goal for Burrin Celtic’s second goal just before half time. The score 2-0 at half time but still a close contest at this point. Milltown came out battling in the second half however Burrin Celtic remained very composed on the ball. A penalty award 15 minutes into the second half converted by Andrew Synoradzki put Burrin Celtic 3-0 in front with 25 minutes to go. Another two goals by Sean Costello and Luc Devlin ensured that Burrin Celtic ran out winners on a score line of 5 – 0.

t Patrick’s U16 team travelled to a wet and windy Myshall this morning. Both sides played very well considering the harsh weather conditions. With the strong wind Milliown United were able to get off to good start curtesy of a Tomas Joyce free kick - two more goals from Kevin Kavanagh & Ben Nolan allowed the home side to go in 3 - 0 at half time. Jack Archibald scored a goal for St Pats in the second half and the pressure mounted on Milltown. The home side defended their lead and the final score at the whistle was 3- 1 to the home-side.

Best for St Patrick's:- Christian Germaine, Dean Kelly & Benat Dlamoren

Best for Milltown: - Ben Nolan, Kyle Foley & Tim Brennan

On a morning where the biting January winds were a major factor St Anne’s came away with a 2-1 victory.

Milltown United played the first half with a very strong wind behind them and made all the running with 3 early missed chances. St Anne’s defended stoutly but couldn’t hold out the Milltown danger man, Coady Cahill, who beat the keeper in the 8th minute to put Milltown 1-0 ahead.

Miltown continued to dominate for the remainder of the first half but couldn’t get past the excellent St Anne’s keeper who really kept them in the match.

Just before halftime St Anne’s were awarded a free which was launched into the box where Eoin Kelly managed to get a shot off to score for St Anne’ to leave it all square at the break.

With the wind at their backs St Anne’s now came more into the game and it was Milltown’s turn to show their defensive skills. St Anne’s were creating some good chances and this time it was the Miltown keeper,Emmer Nolan, who was excellently keeping the opposition at bay. Miltown missed two glorious chances to score on the break and were left to rue these misses when St Anne’s were awarded a penalty with 6 minutes left on the clock. Up stepped Dihn Kaye with a well taken penalty to put St Anne’s in the driving seat. 1-2

Despite a frantic final effort from Milltown the couldn’t get the equaliser and St Anne’s held out for the win.

In a fairly even contest best for St Anne’s were Andrew Knowels and Keenan Leonard.

For Miltown United another all round team effort with best on the day going to Liam Murphy, Ciarán Kavanagh and Tomás Doyle.

In a game played in difficult conditions New Oak came out on top after a hard fought game. Chances were few and far between in the first half, but the chances fell to New Oak who could not get the ball past man of the match Kyle Foley in the Milltown goal. With half time approaching a pin point cross from Issac Emmanuelle found Aaron Bowden at the back post to give New Oak the lead.

The second half was much the same with Milltown working very hard and pressing every ball. Thirty minutes in a fine through ball from Kieran Nolan put Evan McEvoy through on goal an he made no mistake to extend New Oaks lead. Milltown did not let their heads drop and kept pushing forward and got their reward with a goal two minutes from time.

Best for New Oak on the day were Lee Purcell, Aaron Bowden and James Ryan.

It was a very good performance from a very hard working Milltown team.
