St Patrick's Boys AFC 2 - 3 New Oak Boys AFC

This was a game that had it all.

The weather could have not been better. Cold but that was only for the parents, fans, and coaches. The ground was firm under foot and the sun was shining.

St. Pats knew starting this game that it was going to be tough. The last game between the side saw St. Pat's take the 3 points but today was different as New Oak came with a point to prove and Pat's was a team ravaged by players missing through sickness and injury.

A very competitive game between two eager-to-win teams. The top of the table St. Pats hosted third position New Oak.

New Oak started off very strong, and seemed to catch St Pats on the back foot. They scored a nicely headed ball from a corner kick with just 4 minutes on the clock. St. Pats struggled to find their feet, and 6 minutes after the 1st goal, New Oak managed to net another goal from yet another set piece attack.

St. Pats eventually got into the game and started to pile on the pressure. It took seven minutes for the league’s top goal scorer, Sean Murphy, to give St Pats a glimmer of hope with a cool finish from the edge of the box.

Then, just before half time, St.Pat’s Alfie White brought the scores even with his long range effort that New Oak’s goal keeper couldn’t keep out.

The game moved into the second half where literally both sides kept the pressure on. Yet it was New Oak who managed to get the better of St. Pats with yet another goal from a set piece 15 minutes into the 2nd half.

St. Pats tried to get back into the game, yet just couldn’t find the equaliser. They managed to force 1 or 2 good saves from the New Oak goal keeper, and they even hit the bar on one occasion.

Great game in all, which ended 2:3 to the visitors.

Scorers for New Oak - Oshokha Saliu 2, Stephen Bayley 1. Best for New Oak: Jayden Kelly, Oshokha Saliu and Paul Shaw.

Scorers for St. Pat's: Sean Murphy & Alfie White. Best for St. Pat's: Sean Murphy, Sergio & Alfie White.

New Oak Boys AFC 0 - 3 Hanover Harps AFC
Due to a number of factors New Oak were forced to start with seven players. As expected Hanover dominated possession and knocked the ball around well and created an early chance for Brandon Kelly which was kept out by a combination of Lee Purcell and the post. Hanover kept pressing and Jack Begley found the top corner with a fine strike to open the scoring. Unfortunately an injury to a New Oak player meant the game had to finish up early to give the points to Hanover.

Good conditions in the park as both teams started well. With some good passing in the midfield. New Oak had a few attacks but the Baltinglass defence held up well under the leadership of captain Dylan Whyte. The breakthrough came from Jack Manifold in midfield passing it in to Kareem Matomni who slotted it home to make it 1:0.

Then just before half time New Oak were awarded a penalty for a late tackle. Harry Peksens stepped up to take it and equalised. 1:1. Baltinglass scored their second just minutes into the second half after Callum Connell got on the end of a cross from Jack Manifold. 2:1. Now Oak settled into the game and came close a few times on the counter attack. Kareem Matomni had a great chance which was denied by the post.

Then Jack Manifold made a great solo run down the left wing and scored a cracker to seal the win.

On a late dark afternoon in Burrin Road, Parkville United ran to a rampant 8-0 win over New Oak.

New Oak started very well with plenty of possession and work rate off the ball. Having to work so hard took its toll though as Parkville opened the scoring mid way through the first half with a well placed strike from a mistake. Parkville would score two more in succession, one from an error and the other with a fantastic lob of the keeper. A 4th at the break would put Parkville 4-0 up at half time.

New Oak played some great football but it just wouldn't stick for them. Determined to pull something back New Oak attacked very well for the second half, only for some staunch Parkville defending to spur their efforts. Parkville hounded well in the middle of the park and their efforts turned out to be fruitful. A fantastic long range strike put the visitors 5-0 up and the rest soon followed. Finishing the game with an 8-0 win Parkville deserving of their win and New Oak deserving of much more for their efforts.

New Oaks best 3; Adam O'Neill, Sagar Sapkota and Sean Lydon Hennessey.

Parkville Uniteds best 3; Dylan O'Reilly (2 goals) Noah Mulligan (4 goals) and Callum Murray.
