Nurney Villa AFC 3 - 7 Ballymurphy Celtic FC

Ballymurphy were deserving winners at Nurney, with a fine performance by all involved in an entertaining match by both sides, with plenty of goals!

Ballymurphy played against the strong breeze in the first half, but scored within the first minute, through a slick move and finish from Ruari Murphy. About 5 minutes later, a great run and cross from Callum Kavanagh led to Ian Cradock scoring a sweet volley from the edge of the box into the corner of the goal to make it 1-1. Nurney then also went very close from a corner, but Ballymurphy were the next to score, latching onto a ball into the box to slot home through Kyle Nolan, who then also added a third shortly afterwards. And so 'murphy went in 3-1 up at half time.

Both teams threatened in the second half, as both teams put in a determined effort. Alex Dreelin score 'murphy's 4th of the game, but straight from the kick-off, Ian Cradock went past several players to smash home, and pull a goal back for Nurney.

However, Ruairi Murphy added on a fifth for Ballymurphy to kill off the game, with Ian Cradock again responding with a great effort for Nurney. However, Kyle Nolan also completed his hat-trick a few minutes later, and Eoin Hayes scored a long-range free kick for Ballymurphy right at the death, to complete the 7-3 win for them.

Best for Ballymurphy were their scorers, and also Jack Joyce and Dillon Doyle.

Best for Nurney were Ian Cradock, Callum Kavanagh and Kerry Phelan.

Game played in very windy conditions. Well matched teams and the 1st half brought little in the way of chances for both teams.

The 2nd half produced good chances for both teams as the conditions worsened.

After a few great chances for vale, nurney were awarded a corner which resulted in a good save from the vale keeper, but the ball rebounded to an unmarked nurney player who slotted the ball home.

With very little time left the game ended 0-1 to nurney.

Both sets of teams played really well. Hard result to take for the vale girls but congratulations to nurney villa.

Burrin Celtic AFC 2 - 2 Nurney Villa AFC
it was a very blustery day in Ballon here today which made for difficult conditions for football but Burrin started very well playing against a strong wind and settled into a good rythem. The home side put Nurney under a lot of pressure but couldnt create anything clear cut Nurney all the time looking dangerous on the break but neither side could break the deadlock and it finished 0 0 at the break. Burrin started the second half superbly and had Nurney under all sort of pressure and it looked only a matter of time before they scored and with just under 10 minutes gone in the half they took the lead when the Nurney keeper couldnt hold onto a shot the ball was finished by Kurt Rothwell.Burrin still piled on the pressure and looked sure to double their lead but were caught out by a Nurney break away and it was 1 1. This seemed to spur Nurney on and they pushed for a second and were rewarded soon after when another break away saw them make it 2 1, Burrin rallied though and were determined to get something from the game and eventually all their pressure paid off when Edward o Byrne struck to leave it 2 2 at the end, Great credit to both sides for a very entertaining game played in difficult conditions.

25/01 12:30
Nurney Villa AFC 0 - 3 Vale Wanderers AFC Black

Nurney Villa and Vale Wanderers played out an entertaining, hard fought, competitive game in mild conditions on Saturday afternoon on a heavy pitch. Despite the scoreline, this was a very evenly balanced match for the majority of the game. Both teams started brightly, with Nurney in the ascendancy in the early stages, culminating in a great chance for Ryan Flynn of Nurney, who was denied by a great save by Cody Tucker in the Vale goal.

Vale then started getting a grip in the game, leading to a well worked opening shortly before half-time that was brilliantly saved by Kyle Clarke in the Nurney goal.

Vale dominated the early phase of the second half, playing with the slight hill and slight breeze. They got their reward for their good work 15 minutes into the second half when Aidan Nolan looped a cross-shot from the left over the head of the Nurney goalie and just inside the post. Nurney pushed forward for an equaliser, with Vale’s midfield and defence doing some great work to keep them at bay and limit their chances. They broke away in the last minutes, and despite a great double save from Clarke in the Nurney goal, and blocks from Nurney defenders, Aaron Murphy eventually forced the ball over the line for a 2 goal line. Nurney came very close to scoring, but on the subsequent counter attack, Conor Kavanagh scored for Vale again, to finish the game. Best for Nurney were Ciaran O’Neill, Dean O’Reilly and Corey Searson. Best for Vale were Jack Connolly, Zack Kelly and David Kennedy.

Perfect Conditions for a match this morning in Quakers Field

Both teams started well and traded shots on goals. Killeshin got the break through in the 12min when James Ingram beat the Nurney Villa off side trap and fired his shot passed the Nurney keeper. Three minutes later, James was one on one with the Nurney keeper but the keeper pulled of a great save to deny James a second goal.

Killeshin where enjoying a nice bit of possession with Alex Mc Donagh, Eoin Cawley, James Murphy Adam Sieger and Darrgah Loughman passing well in midfield. Killeshin were awarded a free kick on the Nurney goal. When the free kick was taken, Nurney won the ball and in a break away move ran the length of the pitch and slotted the ball passed the Killeshin goal keeper in the 22nd min. A fine goal. Both teams went in even at the half time whistle. In the second half, Killeshin again started well and had the ball in the back of the Nurney net twice in the first ten mins of the 2nd half, but both goals were ruled off side. Nurney Villa had a nice spell of their own pressure in the 50th min and the Killeshin defence of Darragh Byrne, Tommy Hutton, Chris Fitzgerald and Eoin Dunne was tested. Both teams tried to win the game right to the end but with no more goals, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
