Nurney were out of the blocks early with two fine finishes from Eli Fleming and Kian Minchin to lead 0-2 at half time. After the break, Slaney looked a bit more menacing and thought they had scored from a long-range effort from Fionn Foley, only for his effort to crash off the crossbar, which would have rewarded the efforts of Rian Nolan, Kirsten Doyle, Will Darcy and Ronan Bochnia. Played well for Nurney Villa Finn Lawlor, Natalia Deka and Declan Kearney.

Nurney Villa AFC 4 - 5 Killeshin AFC

The away side opened the scoring before an Ide Nolan goal saw Nurney equalise within minutes. The remainder of the first half was an even affair ,with Nurney failing to trouble the Killeshin goalie despite having parity in midfield ,whilst the visitors had more luck and managed to find the net 3 more times to see them leading by 4 goals to 1 at the break. The second half saw Nurney take command and Natalia Deka scored a brace to see Nurney bring the margin down to the minimum. Killeshin scored their fifth and seemed to be safe but Natalia once again found the net for her hat trick to leave Killeshin nervous for the final few minutes with Nurney pressing for a goal that would give them a share of the points. The away defence held firm however and a very enjoyable game saw Killeshin take all three points.

U16 Girls 14/01 11:15
Nurney Villa AFC 1 - 1 St Fiacc's AFC

An entertaining, hard fought game was played by both teams in very windy conditions and a good playing surface.

Nurney played with the strong wind in the first half, though Fiacc’s attacked from the kick-off, and won some corners. Nurney defended strongly and started to get a foothold in the game, putting Fiacc’s under some pressure. After some great work down the right, Mai Cradock burst into the St. Fiacc’s box and put in a dangerous low cross that Kelly Tobin was quick to latch onto, finishing first-time into the corner with aplomb.

Fiacc’s to their credit performed well against the wind, with Mia Brannigan in midfield and Abbey O’Shea putting in some great work. Ella Matthews was also threatening and the Nurney defence had to be vigilant, but was well marshalled by Roisin Murphy. The lively Kelly Tobin was proving a real threat up front for Nurney, and created some half chances, though at the interval, Nurney were one up.

The second half started at a quick pace, with a real midfield battle going on, and neither side willing to give an inch. Both sides were showing good determination and commitment. At the 65 minute mark, the ball made its way to Hannah Matthews, 20 yards from goal, and she shot nicely just inside the far past to level the scores.

The pace of the game increased as both sides battled to find a winner, with both sides having threatening counter-attacks, but no further goals resulted.

Best for Nurney were Eve Kearney, Katie Cowman and Doireann O’Toole.

Best for St. Fiacc’s were Mia Brannigan, Abbey O’Shea and Hannah Matthews.

A hard fought game saw the home side take all 3 points.

In the 23rd minute some great skill from Kian Minchin got him into the Parkville box where he crossed into Eli Fleming who finished to the roof of the net. After this Parkville settle into the game and began to keep possession more with some very good passing in the middle 3rd of the pitch. The Nurney defence however was always in position to deal with any threats that came their way.

In the 40th minute Kian Minchin got on the end of a through ball from Alice Carroll and he gave Nurney a 2 nil lead which they saw out to the end.

Best for Parkville were Joe Smithers, Cody Doyle and Darragh Murphy.

For Nurney Noah Doyle (Goalkeeper), Jack Barrett (Centre back) and Aaron O'Brien (Centre back) where unbeatable all day long.

Nurney lose out to Burrin Celtic
U12 Div 1 07/01 10:00
Nurney Villa AFC 0 - 4 Burrin Celtic AFC

Good to be back after the weather postponed fixtures. Excuse the cliche but this was probably a game of two halves. The teams were nip and tuck until half time where it was 0-0 and Burrin Celtic pulled away to win 4-0 by the end.

Both sides were playing an entertaining passing game. Both keepers were on their toes.

In the first half Nurney competed well and had some good passages of play. Both defences remained solid.

In the second half Burrin got the break through via Ciaran Redmond’s drilled shot. Burrin were getting the upper hand and goals from Glen Cantwell

Senan Finn and Joshua Smithers O'Connor followed towards the end.

Nurney battled well, and never gave up. Best for Nurney were Shane Glynn and Cillian Murphy in midfield and Liam Nolan in goal. For Burrin the backs played well, in midfield Senan Finn and Josh Byrne played well with Glenn Cantwell always a threat going forwards.

Nurney Villa were unfortunate to lose all 3 points in this morning's encounter in Nurney. The first half was a very close affair and despite a few chances neither team could make a breakthrough. Half time saw the teams change ends at nil all. The second half started in a similar fashion. Midway through the second half the visitors opened the scoring which was quickly followed by a second. Nurney battled on and despite some excellent play they couldn't find the net. A third St. Fiacc's goal near the end finished the scoring. The final scoreline was probably an unfair reflection on what was a very even game. Best for Nurney were Elisa Nolan, Natalia Deka, Alice Carroll along with goalkeeper Zara Farrell.
