Burrin Celtic AFC 0 - 2 St Fiacc's AFC

Result 0-2

St Fiaccs came out to Ballon and took the game to the home team in the first half but the Burrin Celtic defense held well with Hannah Hutton pulling off a few great saves.

Game was deadlocked at half time at 0-0 and in the second half both teams created chances and Burrin were unlucky not to score.

The breakthrough finally happened when a long hopeful ball slipped through the hands of the Burrin Keeper and Fiaccs went 1 up.

Burrin were unlucky not have 1 back only for the off side rule disallowed the goal on the narrowest of margins. Burrin pushed up for the equalizer and got caught on a great counter attack and Fiaccs added a second minutes from the end.

Scorers for St Fiaccs were Katelyn Moran & Leah Cummins

with Hannah Mathews and Carly O Leary also playing we’ll.

All round good team performance by Burrin Celtic with Abbie Kepple, Sarah Duffy & Peggy Byrne playing very well.

Stoneyford v St Fiacc's AFC
u13 sfai 05/10 13:00
Stoneyford 2 - 0 St Fiacc's AFC

Stoneyford 2 – St.Fiaccs 0

In terrible conditions this game started with both teams trying to pass the ball as much as possible. For the first 15 mins Stoneyford came out on top and played some lovely football. Fiaccs just couldn’t get to grips with Stoneyford’s midfield and it wasn’t long before Stoneyford were 1-0 up when a long range shot was saved by Orla Keating but the Stoneyford’s striker was at hand to tap it in and give them a deserved lead. Shortly after they made it 2-0 when Fiaccs didn’t clear their lines. It wasn’t until Fiaccs went 2-0 down did they start to play. With Zak Hernan and JAN Flejszar starting to find their way in midfield Fiaccs had a number of attacks broke down by a well-organized Stoneyford defense. Fiaccs were now on top and finished the first half the stronger of the two.

The second half saw Fiaccs pile on more pressure but the Stoneyford defense was able to withstand anything Fiaccs had to offer. Credit must go to both teams for trying to play football in absolute terrible conditions. The two teams played the game in great spirits and were two very evenly matched teams with Stoneyford edging it in on the day with a final score of 2-0. The best of luck to Stoneyford going forward in the competition and the refreshments after was much appreciated on a terrible wet day.

Best for Fiaccs

Callum Murphy, Brian Keating & Corey Lawler Purcell.

Best for Stoneyford

Conor Farrell, Tom Dureth & Louisa Kilmore

Milltown United AFC 2 - 1 St Fiacc's AFC

Milltown started well and had a chance within the first Minute, when Cormac Kinsella broke through the St Fiacc's defence but was denied by some fine goal keeping. After that both team's settle into the game. With a lot of football been played in the middle third. When Eoin Kavanagh won the ball in his own half made a great run up the wing passed to Adam Deacon who finish off from close range 1-0 to the home team at the break.

After the break Milltown started to pile on the pressure and Sean Kavanagh hit the upright not once or twice but 4 times just wouldn't go in (with suggestions we should move the goal). Once again when Milltown had a free on the edge of the box Oisin Kelly floated in a beautiful ball Eoin Kavanagh hit it on the volley looked like Milltown were getting there 2nd, but for one of the saves of the season by the St Fiacc's keeper. Milltown did get there second from a corner when Scott Tracey scored with a great flick. 2-0 to the home side. St Fiacc's push forward a number times and only for some fine goalkeeping from Daniel Smyth could have been level. But with eight minutes left they did get a great goal when Ben A Smith broke through the Milltown defence and finish with a powerful shot low to the net. St Fiacc's then piled on the pressure but were unable to get the equalizer. Great game of football from both teams.

Goal: Ben Smith.

Goals: Adam Deacon and Scott Treacy
