St Fiaccs AFC 8 – 1 St Josephs AFC

It was a tale of two hat-tricks early this morning as St. Fiaccs hosted St. Josephs at Knockbeg College, with Dylan Murphy and Ryan Donnelly-Finn both scoring a treble for St. Fiaccs.

St.Fiaccs started brightly with the opening score coming from a Dylan Murphy penalty and that set the tone for the first half. St. Josephs battled throughout and pulled one back with a good strike from Ross Moran. But with a second from Dylan Murphy, a goal from centre half Aidan Bradley and Ryan Donnelly-Finns first half hat-trick, the score was 6-1 to St. Fiaccs at the half.

St. Josephs were much improved, with a spirited second half performance and played some good football but with a goal from Adam Norton and with Dylan Murphy completing his hat-trick, the game finished 8-1 to St. Fiaccs.

Best for St. Josephs were Robbie Fitzgerald, Charlie Deasy, Sean Murphy and Paddy Walshe. For St. Fiaccs, it was an excellent team performance with some beautiful football being played and every player from 1-15 contributing to a convincing win.

U15 26/09 13:00
Hanover Harps AFC 1 - 1 St Fiacc's AFC

The agony is with Hanover who were extremely wasteful in front of goal and could easily have reached double figures.

The Ecstasy was with St Fiaccs who only recently came together and dug in deep to keep the score line down.

Hanover had the lion's share of possession and constantly peppered the Fiaccs goal without finding the back of the net, Bobby Doyle believed he had opened the scoring when almost standing on the line headered the ball over the line but unbelievably the referee waved play on as Fiaccs cleared the ball away to safety. The first half ended 0-0.

Hanover continued to dominate and created chance after chance particularly when attacking down the wings and coming inside the fullbacks.

Eoin Myers eventually opened the scoring when showing nerves of steel controlled the ball with one foot turned sharply and finished with his other foot, a goal of quality. Hanover were hoping to push on and finish the game by scoring a second but were guilty of more poor finishing and when fiaccs came forward Hanover were guilty of giving away a couple of soft fouls. Patrick O Connor placed the ball about 5 yards outside of the box with the goal to his left and struck the ball in off the underside of the crossbar to level the game with a few minutes left. Hanover maintained their attacking football until the end but couldn't add to the solitary goal.

All players represented Fiaccs well with a special mention for Dan Corcoran in goal and Aiden Bradley playing centre back.

Hanover will be disappointed as a team but the new signings of Daniel Whelan and Bobby Doyle added to this talented group who will have better days ahead.

The second half was even stevens with neither team able to break the deadlock. With minutes to go Vale created a couple of clear chances but were unable to finish. Burrin Celtic AFC 0 - 0 St Fiacc's AFC
On a typical windy day at the Valley, this was going to be a case of who could capitalize with the wind and both defenses stood up to the mark.Fiacchs started off as Champions would putting together some nice passages of play with Hannah Kefra,Hannah Mathews and Ali O' Connor combining well to test the Celtic Defence. But Sarah Duffy, Sorcha Kinsella, and Grace O Gorman kept the Fiacchs attack frustrated.Leah Mannion, Ava Bolger and Sophia Slattery came alive and started to pressurize the Fiacchs defence ,Celtics Anna Thronton worked tirelessly up front but couldnt hit the onion sack.In the second half Fiacchs turned the screw but the Celtic defence and the unbelievable Hannah Hutton in goal kept the Celitc goal intact and both sides shared the points.A brilliant game of soccer played on the deck and in great spirit was a great advertisement for Girls soccer in Carlow.

Hanover Harps AFC Black 2 - 0 St Fiacc's AFC
Hanover came out on top at the end of a very even contest with St Fiacc's on Saturday afternoon in The Plots. The wind played a part with both teams seeming to fare better when playing against it.The home team had the elements behind them in the first half but Fiaccs made the better start and saw a shot cannon back off the bar inside five minutes.Hanover struggled to get any passing going in midfield and the visitors were looking more likely to make the breakthrough without testing the home keeper.Just on half time Sam McHugh was played in but his shot was always rising over the crossbar.Half time 0-0.With the benefit of the wind in the second half Fiaccs might have been expected to take advantage but they as well found it difficult to master the conditions.Hanover saw improvement from the midfield four and slowly began to make inroads towards goal. With fifteen minutes to go a Sean Hayden cross was helped on by Darragh Redmond and Jason Dillon was at the back post to sweep home and give the home team the lead.Five minutes later it was two when a good passing movement ended with Dermot Lawlor rifling home to seal the win.The only difference between the teams on the day was the taking of chances. For an unlucky St Fiaccs,Jan Flejszar,Corey Purcell and Robbie Roycroft were best. For Hanover Dara Nolan,Cody Molloy,Bailee Cooney and Eoin Ryan were prominent.

St Fiaccs 8 St. Pats 0

This game was very even for the first 20 minutes even though the score might not suggest this. St Pats were passing the ball very well and created a few chances. But it wasn’t long before the McEvoy brothers got on the goal sheet. The older brother Ruairi started the scoring with a great finish but it was the younger brother Darragh who shun the most scoring a brilliant hat trick and also putting in a man of the match performance with great work rate throughout the game. St. Pats never gave up and tried their best to get past the Fiaccs defense but with another great performance from Danny Keegan in left-back it wasn’t to be. Alex Donnely Finn added 2 more in the second half. Thomas Lawler & Mikey Hand and 1 each.
