A controlled performance from St Fiaccs from start to finish saw them run out convincing winners of this match in Knockbeg

It took until the 13th minute for Ashlee Smith to open the scoring after picking up on a loose throw in and making her way into the box before slotting the ball into the net. 3 minutes later and Ashlee had her second of the game after some good build up play by Nicole Osborne and the ever reliable Ali O Connor.

On 18 minutes Leah Cummins added a third goal, cutting in from the wing and scoring past the keeper.

Right on half time, Katelyn Moran saw her corner evade everyone and end up in the net.

St Fiaccs started the second half quickly with Ashlee Smith completing her hattrick and adding to it with another good predator finish to give her 4 goals on the day.

St. Fiaccs 1 V Burrin Celtic 0

A tough game this morning played in difficult, winter like conditions out in Knockbeg College. The first half was an even contest with both sides probing and looking to gain the upper hand in the game. Chances were few and far between but both goalkeepers, Cody Tucker for Fiaccs and Dylan Cunningham for Burrin, had to be alert and make important saves. The deadlock was finally broken after 20 minutes, with Shane Kelly and the lively Sean Lydon-Hennessy combining to cross into the box for captain for the day, Lucas O’Neill, to head home to make it 1-0 to St. Fiaccs.

St. Fiaccs came out with an extra vigour and much improved in the second half and began to create more chances, with the excellent Calin Iancu and Shane Grant pulling the strings in midfield. Patrick O’Connor’s pin point crosses kept the pressure on the Burrin defence, causing them all sort of headaches and with the introduction of Rian Ayres up front to pair with Dylan Murphy the chances were starting to build up for St. Fiaccs in search of that elusive second goal that never came. The away side had a couple of chances to create a nervy last few minutes for St. Fiaccs but the back line of Rob Coleman, Aidan Bradley, the impressive Josh Clear and Ryan Donnelly-Finn held strong and never gave an inch to see out the clean sheet and a deserved 1-0 win.

All around, a much improved team performance by St. Fiaccs with special mention to Josh Clear, Calin Iancu and Rob Coleman.

Best for Burrin Celtic were Dylan Cunningham in goals, Johnny Maher in defence and the lively Dylan Ruane.

On a fresh sunny morning in Ballon both teams started cautiously before a great strike from Leah Nelson put St. Fiaccs one nil up. Burin Celtic settled into the game and 2 goals from Lucy Kinsella settled their nerves. The game was end to end before Anna Cullen made it 3 for the home side. At half time both teams knew there were more goals to be had in the second half.

St Fiaccs started the second half strong and were rewarded by a Hannah Kerfah strike to make it 3-2, Burrin Celtic were nervous as the pressure grew on their defence. A quick break from Lucy Kinsella who was fouled in the build up but referee Morgan O’ Reilly played a great advantage and Lucy Malone coolly slotted home to make it 4-2.

Burrin Celtic settled again and 2 Eimear Bolger goals gave the home side breathing room. Another Leah Nelson goal for St. Fiaccs made it 6-3 at the final whistle. Burrin Celtic had strong performances from Lucy Kinsella, Aoife Bergin, Anna Cullen, Sophia Slattery and Caoimhe Dempsey.

St. Fiaccs saw great goals and assists from Sienna Smith, Hannah Kerfah, Leah Nelson and Ashley Smith.

An entertaining game in Nurney saw the visitors come away with a result that does not reflect the hard work that the home side put in defensively all game, but certainly no one can take away from the dominance of the young St Fiaccs ladies throughout the hour. The visitors started brightly and peppered the Nurney goal with shots following long periods of possession. Zara farrell was simply magnificent in the home sides goal and she saved multiple shots throughout the game that would do justice to any league or division. But with all this pressure, St Fiaccs found the net twice in the half from Ally O connor and debutant Lilly Monaghan. They seemed to be cruising but a wonderful surging run from Nurneys impressive Natalia Decka saw her finish past an advancing goalkeeper to leave it 1 2 in favour of St Fiaccs at half time. This seemed to bring a new determination to the visitors but a resolute home defence lead by Hannah Carroll and Holly Murphy held out waves of attacks. Nurney lived on a few break away chances and Gemma Fleming did well to link up with Eimear Craddock and Ella Kearney to create half a chance for them But the goals came for Fiaccs as the pressure told. Oconnor got her 2nd and this was added to by Kathlin Moran and Nicole Osborne to leave the score 5 1 to the visitors at full time. Hanna Kerfah aside from those all ready mentioned was excellent for the visitors.

St Fiaccs 2 Vale 2

A closely fought battle on the pitch finished with a share of the points in Knockbeg on Saturday lunchtime.

Vale scored an early goal on 7 minutes through Alice Hickey, beating the Fiaccs keeper at her near post. St Fiaccs regrouped quickly and equalised a couple of minutes later after some great work from Ashlee Smith who crossed to Leah Cummins to score.

The second half continued as the first with St Fiaccs applying the pressure. Burren won a corner 13 mins into the second and the ball made its way through to Zoe Clarke who managed to get the ball over the keeper into the net to give them a 2 1 lead. But a never say die attitude from this Fiaccs side saw them battle back again and deservedly equalise through Ashlee Smith after some great play from Nadine O Reilly.

The game finished 2-2 with some excellent performances from Hanna Kerfah, Hannah Matthews and Kerri Mcdonald. Best for Vale were Aluce Hickey, Zoe Clarke and Liadh Nolan.

Top of the table St. Fiacc’s travelled to Nurney on Saturday for an entertaining, competitive match. The game started with lively football, but with both defences on top. St. Fiacc’s made some threatening play down their right wing in the early stages with Abbey O’Shea getting forward from right back, but each time the danger was snuffed out by the excellent Ellen Barrett. Nurney had some threatening counter-attacks, with Natalia Dzeko causing problem’s for the St. Fiacc’s defence. Shortly before half time, Abbey O’Shea received the ball outside the corner for the Nurney penalty area and lofted a brilliant goal over the goalie and into the far corner. One-nil to St. Fiacc’s at half time.

The second half started off at a fast pace, and Nurney started making more in-roads to the St. Fiacc’s defence, with Holly Ryan and Mai Cradock working hard in midfield. Nurney got a couple of chances from corners and were starting to get in behind the St. Fiacc’s defence, with some tight off-side calls, but St. Fiacc’s defence held firm. With about 7 minutes to go, Nadine O’Reilly burst through the Nurney defence and finished into the bottom corner, to put St. Fiacc’s two up. Both teams pushed to get a goal, and the game was quite end-to-end, with Isabelle Nash playing very well for St. Fiacc’s. A great Nurney move and some impressible individual skill from Natalia Deka opened a good chance, but the St. Fiacc’s goalkeeper made an excellent save.

Two-nil the game finished, after a commendable performance from both teams.

St Fiacc's AFC 1 - 4 Ballymurphy Celtic FC

St Fiaccs 1 Ballymurphy 4

A hard fought match at a cold and windswept Knockbeg college this morning, with the final scoreline not reflecting the close competitive nature of this tie.

Ballymurphy took the lead early in the match with the ensuing St Fiaccs pressure being rewarded with a Dylan Murphy penalty. Ballymurphy then retook the lead with a cracker of a strike from 30 yards out into the top left hand corner of the goal past Fiaccs keeper Marty McGrath and went in at half time 2-1 ahead.

St Fiaccs turned up the pressure on the opponents goal in the 2nd half but Ballymurphy stood strong withstanding everything that was thrown at them. Two excellent counter attacks from a resolute and determined Ballymurphy team resulted in two further goals resulting in a final score of 4-1 to the away team.

Best for Fiaccs were Dylan Murphy, Lucas O Neill and Marty McGrath.

Ballymurphy to a man played brilliantly as a team with a well deserved win.

This was a very entertaining game from the first whistle with the home side playing some lovely passing and moving football.

Fiaccs created a few early chances but failed to make any count until half way through the first half a lovely cross from Patrick Ó Conner was met with a powerful header from captain Shane Grant to put the home side 1 up.

SOON after a lovely passing move from Patrick O Connor and Dylan Murphy sent Sean

Lydon Hennessy through and he played a lovely ball into Oskaha to finish expertly to the bottom corner.

The away side came back at Fiaccs for the reminder of the half but defensively Fiaccs stood up to everything that was coming there way. Half Time 2 _0.. Into the second half and it was the away side who continued to dominate but to a man the home side defended like lions and never gave an inch. With a few minutes left the away side scored to make it a nervy last few minutes but Fiaccs held on for a well deserved win. Excellent all round performance but special mention to Calin Iancu , Darragh Nolan, Seán Hennessy and Marty MC Grath.
