St Patrick's Boys AFC 0 - 4 Vale Wanderers AFC

St. Patrick’s Boys AFC lined out for their first league game of the season against Vale Wanderers AFC in what turned out to be atrocious weather conditions in the Meadows, Graiguecullen. Vale had already started their season on a winning note and were hoping for a repeat performance. They opened the scoring after about 10 minutes when a long throw into the St. Pats penalty area was slotted home. St. Pats regrouped quickly and put together a very solid first half overall. It was 1 nil at the break. The St. Pats team remained strong in the second half but Vale were deserved winners on the day adding 3 more goals to the scoreline.

Vale Wanderers AFC scorers: Michael Dooley (3) and Keelan Byrne. Conor Delacy, Noel Meaney and Alfie Barcoe put in good performances for Vale. For St. Patricks Boys AFC Sinead Thompson, Aoife Smithers, Sophie McConomy and Ella Meyler stood out.

U15 League 05/10 10:00
Burrin Celtic AFC 0 - 4 Vale Wanderers AFC

The game started off with both sides attacking and creating chances. Vale went 1-0 up with Jeremy Itla getting the goal. Burrin replied quickly with Miguel Arona and Conor deacon forcing the Vale keeper to make some fine saves. Charlie Nolan put vale 2-0 up going into half time. Burrin had the ball in the net but it was disallowed because of a handball in a scrappy phase of play inside the 18 yard box.

Burrin broke down the right a few times with Aaron Fitzgerald and Frankie Fitzgerald linking up well in midfield and down the right. Glenn O’Rourke was fantastic in the heart of the Burrin defense.

Glenn O’Rourke burst through the defense and midfield to cannon a shot at the vale keeper who done very well to save.

Again the Fitzgerald’s linked up well with Frankie Fitzgerald firing a shot just over the bar. Vale got their 3rd when Jeremy Itla slotting the ball in the bottom right just inside the box.

Vale Wanderers AFC v Nurney Villa AFC
Clinical Nurney secure victory
u13 League div 2 28/09 13:00
Vale Wanderers AFC Green 1 - 8 Nurney Villa AFC
This game proved to be a very energetic and lively affair in the overcast conditions. And although a well-deserved victory for the away side ensued the scoreline does belie the efforts of a very game and courageous Vale side.
The away side started very brightly and did fashion a few early chances but some very good defending by the home side kept the sides level for the opening ten minutes. As the half wore on however Nurney began to turn the screw and their efforts were duly rewarded when Corey Searson scored two goals in quick succession. Jack Kehoe added a third shortly thereafter and although Vale continued to fight bravely for some parity in midfield Ryan O’Flynn then added a fourth to secure the visitors a 0-4 half-time lead.
Into the second half Vale made some structural changes and started to create some clear-cut chances of their own. However, it was the visitors who struck again when Corey Searson completed his hat-trick. Dean O’Reilly then added a sixth but to their credit Vale continued to rally and their endeavour was duly rewarded when Ruarc O’Neill scored a very special individual goal. This was closely followed by Vale’s Mickey Dowling narrowly missing the target with a well-taken free-kick. However, Nurney again rallied and secured a 1-8 victory through two more goals by Ian Craddock and Ryan O’Flynn.
Overall a very entertaining affair with Nurney deservedly taking the spoils and some good momentum into their future games. Vale can also be proud of their efforts however and hopefully can realise their potential for upcoming fixtures. On the day the goalscorers for Nurney were extremely clinical and for Vale the versatile Eanna Cody, Ryan Murphy and Jack O’Donoghue made a huge contribution on the day.

Burrin Celtic AFC 1 - 1 Vale Wanderers AFC
Good conditions for a match in Burrin today. Burrin played with a slight breeze in the first half and created some good chances and took the lead through Dylan Ruane. Vale recovered well and put Burrin under pressure with some long balls over the top. It wasn't long before they equalised through Jack Connolly and that's how it finished at half-time 1-1. The second half was a very even game, with both sides creating chances but neither side was able to get the match winner. Best for Vale were Cody Tucker and Aaron Murphy. Best for Burrin were Dylan Ruan and Davy Francis. Final Score 1-1.

Sallins Celtic v Vale Wanderers AFC
Collins strikes to secure the points for Vale
Girls Champions Lge 19/03 14:30
Sallins Celtic 0 - 1 Vale Wanderers AFC

Sallins Celtic 0-1 Vale Wanderers

Vale secured the win with a well taken goal in the opening quarter from Keeva Collins. Vale started the game confidently on the back of a good win against St Anne's last week. Early chances went a begging from Chantelle Kelly & Laura Kearney as the visitors tried to put Sallins on the back foot. Sallins began to gain a foothold as their direct style saw Aoife Roche & Orliath Sawyer tested at the back with Sammy Monahan saving well to deny Sallins their lone effort on target in the first half. Vale struck on 8 minutes as a dominant display in the opening half by Keeva Collins saw her combine well with Jane McDonald before driving a sweet left foot strike low to the Sallins right corner of the net. Collins could have doubled Vales lead 2 minutes later but her effort went wide. Just before the break, a superb solo run out of defence by Orliath Sawyer almost saw her cut through the entire Sallins team only to be denied by a well timed last ditch tackle.

The second half saw Sallins regroup as they put in a much improved display. However both defences dominated as chances were scarce. Laura Kearney had Vales best chance of the half as she was denied by a good save. Keeva Collins had twice broke well down the left with both her efforts off target. Aoife Roche HT roke well from defence but her effort from distance was blocked. Sallins rallied late on & had a couple of close moments to test Vales defence as Chantelle Kelly saved well. A dominant display by Orliath Sawyer & Aoife Roche saw Vale keep a clean sheet to secure the win.

Best for Vale were Keeva Collins, Aoife Roche & player of the match Orliath Sawyer
