The Super Bowl, Leighlinbridge was the venue for this girls U16’s league match between vale wanderers and killeshin.

Big changes to both line ups, meant the game started slow but vale pressurized the ball deep in the Killeshin half and Kate Burke was unlucky not to score. Vale found it hard to beat the very impressive Aoife Mullins in the killeshin goal, who was outstanding throughout the game.

With a few minutes left in the 1st half, vale’s dominance was rewarded, when, after an Indirect free kick, which was saved, Zoe Clarke mopped up the rebound and put vale 1 up at half time.

At the start of the 2nd half, vale made some changes, but still Killeshin showed great spirit and frustrated the vale girls. Katie O’ Reilly was putting in a very solid display in the backs for killeshin.

Eventually Vale doubled their score when Kate Burke found the ball in the box and got it over the line. After that, the game opened up for vale and they started to pass the ball around nicely with Carla Byrne impressing down the right.

Kate Burke’s 2nd of the match came about after she latched onto a long ball out of the Killeshin defence, brought the ball forward and slotted it away nicely into the right bottom corner.

Vale’s made it 4 after some nice play down the right and Kate Burke placed a lovely lob over the Killeshin keeper to get her hat trick for vale.

The game ended 4 nil to the Vale girls.

Killeshin put in a very valiant performance and the signs are there that they are improving from game to game.

Best for killeshin included Aoife Mullin, Katie O’ Reilly and Katie Kehoe.

Best for vale were Zoe Clarke, Sarah Devine Kate Burke and Carla Byrne.

Vale Wanderers AFC 3 - 3 Parkville United AFC

The gameplan from both teams was evident from kick-off, with the ball being worked up the field quickly by both teams .

Vale were first to score with a penalty inside the first 15 minutes for a handball in the penalty area, which Ethan Chambers duly converted.

This was quickly followed by a score from a corner which Bob Phelan put in the back of the net to make it 2-0 to Vale.

Parkville got more into the game from here and scored 2 goals in quick succession before half-time, scorers were Max O'Donoghue and Cody Doyle. The second half was again end to end with both goalkeepers being worked. Vale's biggest threat was Romeo Sithebe but Parkville's over the top ball and through ball continued to work Vale's defence hard.

Parkville got their third 10 minutes into the second half through Max O'Donoghue - grabbing his second - which took them into the lead for the first time in the game.

As the game continued it looked like the spoils were going to be Parkville's when in the closing minutes Vale were awarded a free kick about 6 yards outside the penalty area which was taken by Romeo Sithebe.

Sithebe slotted this into the left -hand side of the goal, out of the reach of Parkville's Keeper.

A nail-biting finish ensued for both teams but they couldn't be separated and it finished 3-3, which was a fair result overall.

Ballymurphy Celtic dominated the next 15 minutes of the match with attack after attack, they were rewarded with a goal by Hannah Duggan. Vale wanderers and Burrin Celtic girls played out an excellent game in the SuperBowl today. The conditions were unfavorable for a game of soccer with a blustery wind, which Made it very difficult to get the ball down.

Burrin started the game well and dominated the early stages putting vale under a bit of pressure. Leah Mannion started the game well and was pulling the strings in the middle of the park. Eventually vale started to come into the game and went close with a roisin Collins effort that was well saved.

Vale won a free kick on the edge of the box. Chloe Lawlor rattled the crossbar and Sarah devine was on hand to mop up the rebound, putting vale 1 up after 16 minutes.

The rest of the 1st half was very even and ended 1 nil to vale.

Vale started the 2nd half strongly and with 47 minutes gone on the clock, Sarah devine got her 2nd of the match with a close range effort ,doubling vale’s lead.

This seemed to wake Burrin up and they started to dominate possession resulting in a goal for Mia Nolan halfway through the 2nd half.

Straight from the kick off vale made it 3-1 with a nice goal from Kate Burke, vale’s top scorer.

In true Burrin fashion they piled more pressure on the vale defence and the excellent Leah Mannion reduced the deficit to 1 goal with 10 minutes left.

Both teams had more chances but the game finished 3-2 to vale.

It was an excellent game and both teams should be very proud.

Best for Burrin Celtic included Isabel cronnin, Eimear Nolan and India mernagh.

They doubled their lead only 10 minutes after with the second of the day from Nicolas once again, this time from a well delivered free kick, both from Josh Furlong. Vale came back into the game with a mistake from the Baltinglass back line which failed to clear a ball in the box which was followed in by Vale’s Joey Drea but just before the half they redeemed themselves with a third goal. A assist from centre back Josh Barry set up Josh Furlong. Leaving it 3-1 at the break to the home side. The next 20 minutes of the second half were quiet, both teams settling in as Baltinglass started to dominate possession. This match was a great game for the neutrals with two closely matched teams playing some lovely football and giving maximum effort. There was very little to separate these sides in the first half, with both sides hitting the woodwork, but a header from Killeshin's James McGrath after 20 mins put Killeshin in front before the break.

Vale didn’t drop their heads and stayed in the fight and came out strong in the second half and a long range effort from Jason Kelly levelled up the match early in the second half. This was followed by a break by Killeshin resulting in Luke Kehoe getting on the end of a through ball to put Killeshin back in front. Credit to Vale they recovered well and deserved the equaliser through a free from outside the box by Diarmuid Redmond. It stayed at 2-2 for much of the second half until a late winner by Cian McNamara secured the points for Killeshin. Vale came agonisingly close to levelling it up in the dying moments when a Shaun Sibanda effort crept narrowly wide of the right post.

A great game played in good spirit made for a nailbiting finish and both teams deserve a lot of credit for their efforts.

The action in this game started quickly with Hanover being awarded a penalty in the first 5 mins for a Vale handball in the box. A well struck shot went narrowly wide of the left post and Vale were let off the hook. This was followed by a period of sustained Hanover pressure and despite some determined defending from Vale, it resulted in the opening goal of the game for Hanover after 15 mins. Despite an even enough second quarter, Hanover scored another goal just before half time.

At 2-0 it was still all to play for, but Vale struggled to cope with Hanover pressure immediately after the break and a Vale own goal from a Hanover corner and another fine Hanover strike within 2 mins of each other killed this game off as a contest.

Vale showed some fight for the next 20 mins, but the last 10 mins saw legs tire in an under strength Vale team with a number of first team players missing. Vale were over-run by some fine attacking moves, with Hanover adding another 3 goals.

This was good win for Hanover who showed some fine attacking qualities alongside a solid defence.

A miserable afternoon in Ballymurphy seen Celtic drop their first points of the season.

Ballymurphy had a slow tired start. Was the toy show the night before to blame? The wind? The horizontal rain? Or was it the strong Vale side who started from the first whistle?

Vale were very dominant for the first 10 minutes. Winning every 50/50 ball. On 12 minutes Ethan Chambers found himself in space. He smashed a shot from just outside the box, the ball slipped through the goalkeepers wet gloves.1 nil Vale

Finally Ballymurphy got going and seen their best spell of the game. On 18 minutes Danny Jordan picked up the ball in the centre of the park. Clever footwork and a lovely through ball sent Sam Traynor away. Sam left two defenders in his wake before curling a lovely little shot to make it 1 all.

Four minutes later Ruairi O'brien put bally ahead. He went on a solo run down the right wing. His goal bound shot took a slight deflection and past the Vale keeper.

Bobby Ivers, in goal, ensures bally finished the half ahead when he bravely saved at the feet of an onrushing striker.

2 - 1 to Ballymurphy at halftime.

In the second half Vale, playing with the wind, really turned up the pressure and Ballymurphy seldom troubled the Vale goal. The trio of Frankie Doyle, Ethan Chambers and Conor Ryan in Vales midfield linked up really well. Vale created chance after chance but the bally boys stood their ground. With two in the first half and two in the second half has seen Zenon Jordan master the art of the last ditch tackle. Cillian Foley cleared ball after ball, never putting a foot wrong all game.

Eventually Vale, with a bit of luck, scored the equaliser on 45 minutes. Ruairi Farrell pounced on a loose ball and found himself 1 on 1 with Bobby Ivers. Bobby got a foot to the low shot but the ball trickled over the line.

2 all the final result.

Best for Ballymurphy: Zenon Jordan, Bobby Ivers, Cillian Foley.

Best for Vale: Frankie Doyle, Ethan Chambers, Conor Ryan.

Cein McNamara scored Just on the verge of half time with an accurate header.

Through out the second half both sides created a variety of opportunities, With Killeshin’s Mikey Regan scoring a lovely shot in the 55th minute and Killeshin’s James McGrath scored two more great goals on the 40th and 65th minute with two great content and precise finishes. Vale Wanders created a few opportunities towards the end but the game resulted in a 6.0 win to Killeshin.
