Burrin Celtic AFC 2 - 1 Vale Wanderers AFC

Burrin Celtic hosted Vale Wanders on a very cold Saturday morning.

The 1st half saw both sides very evenly matched.

Burrin had many scoring opportunities but found it hard to get passed strong defending from Vale.

Burrins goalie Sophie Moloney made some brilliant saves keeping the score 0-0 in the first half.

The 2nd half started off well for Burrin with Robyn McGrath scoring there 1st goal just minutes into the half.

Vale made many attempts on goal but couldn't get passed Grace McDonald in the back line.

In the 45min Emma Bergin got Burrins 2nd goal.

Vale faught hard and got there 1st goal at the 50min scored by Alisha Nolan.

Aine Deacon was denied another goal for Burrin by a great save from Vales goalie.

A great game of soccer today in the Valley with both sides evenly matched and all girls played brilliant.

Vale hit for six

Vale Wanderers AFC 0 - 6 New Oak Boys AFC

A battling first half from Vale saw New Oak leading by a solitary goal which gave the home side heart for the second half, but despite battling performances from Sean Foley & Brendan Byrne in midfield, the game ran away from the home side.

A lovely passing move saw Shaun Sibanda played in on goal but he pulled his shot agonisingly wide of the far post and the chance for an equaliser was gone.

Vale struggled to string passes together and New Oak made their possession count, grabbing another 2 goals in quick succession.

With the match at 0-3, an injury to Sean Foley saw a reshuffle in the Vale midfield but they lost their shape and conceded 3 more without reply.

Vale will look back at the first 40 minutes of the match and try to build on that moving forward.

Best for Vale were Brendan Byrne, Seán Foley, Shaun Sibanda and Joey Drea.

Hanover grab all 3 points
U13 div 1 03/12 12:15
Vale Wanderers AFC 0 - 5 Hanover Harps AFC

The action in this game started quickly with Hanover being awarded a penalty in the first 5 mins for a Vale handball in the box. A well struck shot went narrowly wide of the left post and Vale were let off the hook. This was followed by a period of sustained Hanover pressure and despite some determined defending from Vale, it resulted in the opening goal of the game for Hanover after 15 mins. Despite an even enough second quarter, Hanover scored another goal just before half time.

At 2-0 it was still all to play for, but Vale struggled to cope with Hanover pressure immediately after the break and a Vale own goal from a Hanover corner and another fine Hanover strike within 2 mins of each other killed this game off as a contest.

Vale showed some fight for the next 20 mins, but the last 10 mins saw legs tire in an under strength Vale team with a number of first team players missing. Vale were over-run by some fine attacking moves, with Hanover adding another 3 goals.

This was good win for Hanover who showed some fine attacking qualities alongside a solid defence.

A good game between two well matched teams, the first half saw vale go into a 2 - 0 lead through a fine strike from Fionn Ford from 18 yards out and Barteck Gutrzko with the 2nd from a corner, Bally never really were in the game in the first half.

HT 0-2

It was a completely different Bally performance in the second half and responded with a well taken goal from Adam Joyce and a superb free kick from Eoin condren on 56 mins to draw the teams level. Bally put on relentless pressure and in the dying minutes Conor Walsh put jake Fitzpatrick through one on one and Fitz made no mistake putting it into the bottom corner to win the game for the Bally boys.

Ballymurphy Celtic 2 - 2 Vale Wanderers AFC

A miserable afternoon in Ballymurphy seen Celtic drop their first points of the season.

Ballymurphy had a slow tired start. Was the toy show the night before to blame? The wind? The horizontal rain? Or was it the strong Vale side who started from the first whistle?

Vale were very dominant for the first 10 minutes. Winning every 50/50 ball. On 12 minutes Ethan Chambers found himself in space. He smashed a shot from just outside the box, the ball slipped through the goalkeepers wet gloves.1 nil Vale

Finally Ballymurphy got going and seen their best spell of the game. On 18 minutes Danny Jordan picked up the ball in the centre of the park. Clever footwork and a lovely through ball sent Sam Traynor away. Sam left two defenders in his wake before curling a lovely little shot to make it 1 all.

Four minutes later Ruairi O'brien put bally ahead. He went on a solo run down the right wing. His goal bound shot took a slight deflection and past the Vale keeper.

Bobby Ivers, in goal, ensures bally finished the half ahead when he bravely saved at the feet of an onrushing striker.

2 - 1 to Ballymurphy at halftime.

In the second half Vale, playing with the wind, really turned up the pressure and Ballymurphy seldom troubled the Vale goal. The trio of Frankie Doyle, Ethan Chambers and Conor Ryan in Vales midfield linked up really well. Vale created chance after chance but the bally boys stood their ground. With two in the first half and two in the second half has seen Zenon Jordan master the art of the last ditch tackle. Cillian Foley cleared ball after ball, never putting a foot wrong all game.

Eventually Vale, with a bit of luck, scored the equaliser on 45 minutes. Ruairi Farrell pounced on a loose ball and found himself 1 on 1 with Bobby Ivers. Bobby got a foot to the low shot but the ball trickled over the line.

2 all the final result.

Best for Ballymurphy: Zenon Jordan, Bobby Ivers, Cillian Foley.

Best for Vale: Frankie Doyle, Ethan Chambers, Conor Ryan.

Killeshin opened up the score with an exquisite shot from James Mgcrath that went into the top right corner in the 8th minute. James scored a wonderful header that was crossed in my Ciara Milton shortly after the 15th minute. Vale Wanders created a few opportunities but were unfortunate to not finish any chances but they battled and in the 30th minute the Killeshin goalkeeper Dylan Scully had to make a great save that was going into the bottom right corner. Cein McNamara scored Just on the verge of half time with an accurate header.

Through out the second half both sides created a variety of opportunities, With Killeshin’s Mikey Regan scoring a lovely shot in the 55th minute and Killeshin’s James McGrath scored two more great goals on the 40th and 65th minute with two great content and precise finishes. Vale Wanders created a few opportunities towards the end but the game resulted in a 6.0 win to Killeshin.

What appeared a difficult fixture on paper for the home side was made all the harder by having to play the opening 15mins with 10 players.

But Vale battled hard and were only a goal down when they got the full complement on the pitch.

Adam Keating put in an excellent shift and was alert to every through ball that New Oak played.

There were half chances at both ends but New Oak looked the more likely to score and they had doubled their lead at half-time.

Vale came out in the second half showing a bit more composure and determination.

Conor Ryan, Frankie Doyle and Bill Hayden combined well to create an opportunity for Ruairí Farrell to time a late run into the area and finish from close range, making it 1-2.

It looked like Vale were coming back but some sloppy play let New Oak in to score again with Luke Honeyball getting a hand to it but unable to keep it out.

At 1-3, Bill Hayden went closest for the home side, hitting the post with a brilliantly taken header that really deserved to hit the net.

The disappointment of that not crossing the line seemed to drain the Vale player's energy and New Oak went on to add two more including an excellent strike from distance.

Best for Vale were Adam Keating, Josh Dermody, Conor Ryan and Bill Hayden.

Gorey rangers hosted vale wanderers in this sfai 3rd round match on a cold beautiful morning. Rangers started the game well and passed the ball around with confidence. The vale girls started to impose themselves on the game and a volley from Kate burke was only inches wide from opening the score.

Half way through the 1st half Gorey attacked down the right wing and the ball was floated in and latched on by the rangers Centre forward who drove the ball low into the vale net.

Half time:1 nil to Gorey.

The big moment in the 2nd half came in the 2nd minute when a lack of concentration in the vale defence let rangers through on goal and the ball was buried into the back of the net.

Vale tried hard to reduce the score line and Zoe Clarke was unlucky not to get on the end of a corner.

Rangers went 5 at the back and soaked up anymore vale advances, all the while having some good chances of the own. Vale’s keeper Amy Farrell pulled off a great save near the end to keep rangers from adding to the scoreline.

The game ended 2 nil to the home side.

Best for vale were moya o’Toole, Chloe Lawlor and Zoe Clarke.

The game was played at a very high level and both teams were a credit to themselves.

A clinical Slaney Rovers outfit took the points on offer in the Superbowl, their ability to take the goal chances when they came the difference, Taylor Ryan's goal on 20 mins a case in point , the butt of both posts hit for the deadlock breaker , Vale pressure either side of the goal keeping Callum Boland on his toes but half time came with Slaney still up .

Straight from the 2nd half kick off Jack Kelly netted from distance to double their advantage, this was soon cancelled out by a cracking Ciaran Bambrick top corner effort from the edge of the box , Vale trying desperately for an equaliser found Boland in fine form and his teammates rewarded him with Jack Corcoran netting a brace before Hugh Gartland netted their fifth to reward a great team performance and take the win over an out of sorts Vale who had Daniel Brennan, Radek Brezeniski and Adam Dowling prominent

This game started out as a close game with both sides working each other out in the opening exchanges. As the flood lights came on after the first 15 mins the game sprung into action with both teams playing some nice football.

With the sides locked 0-0 at the break, Nurney pushed on in the second half with two early goals in quick succession to go 2-0 up. Vale were chasing the game at this stage and had some half chances but Nurney did well on the counter attack and grabbed another to go 3-0 up. In the latter quarter Vale pressed and were rewarded with a goal by James Aughney, but Nurney again punished some mistakes in defence to finish the game 4-1 winners. This was a closer more entertaining game than the score line suggests with both teams playing with great heart and the game was played in a great spirit.

St Fiaccs 2 Vale 3

A very even hard fought match on Saturday morning in Pats College saw Vale edge the game.

The game started with both teams sizing each other up for the first 10 mins. Vale took the lead through Moya O Toole on 13 mins and 5 mins later Vale took advantage of a slip in the Fiaccs backline to make it 2 nil. St Fiaccs immediately responded after some good work from Mia Branagan which led to Leah Nelson pulling a goal back. Vale tried to extend their lead with 2 good chances for Kate Burke before half time.

The second half started evenly again but Fiaccs started to take control and almost scored through Ashlee Smith but Amy Farrell denied her.

Fiaccs kept piling on the pressure and got a deserved equaliser through Leah Nelson after some great team play with Ashlee Smith and Ella Maguire involed

However with 2 mins remaining Kate Burke scored the winning goal to give Vale all 3 points in what was a very well contested match in tough conditions.

An entertaining match saw the teams share the points but Vale will feel they let 2 points slip away.

The sun was out for this 11:15am kick off and both sides were trying to play football the way it should be played.

Vale took a few minutes to get going and could have already been behind but for a smart save from Luke Honeyball, but they then settled into the game and had the better of the half.

The best move of the half resulted in a goal in the final minute of the 1st half coming from an excellent left-footed finish from Bill Hayden after some terrific passing in the build-up.

Romeo Sithibe looked like he was on a mission to score but just couldn't create a clear opportunity for himself.

1-0 to Vale at half-time but Killeshin were still very much in the game.

A couple of changes at half-time for Vale saw Josh Dermody drop into defence as cover for his injured brother Zach - both lads having put in good performances in the 1st half.

Vale looked the more likely to score still but they were starting to over-play and Killeshin were gaining more poseession and won a number of corners.

Honeyball produced another two outstanding saves, the latter resulting in a corner in the final minute. Unfortunately for the home side, the corner wasn't dealt with and was driven into the goal from close range and the final whistle blew at the resulting kick-off, giving a result of 1-1.

This was a very competitive game with both teams playing great soccer throughout the game. Vale were on top in the early stages and got in behind the Killeshin defence but failed to put away a few chances. They finally made the breakthrough when Frankie Doyle slotted home after some great work by Liam Nolan in the build up. The lead was short lived as Fionn Farrell grabbed an equaliser for the visitors before the break. The second half was end to end with neither team able to capitalise on the chance created until Vale got a corner and an excellent delivery from Cian Purcell was headed home by Frankie Doyle. Killeshin fought hard right to the end but the Vale defence stood firm. Best for Killeshin was Max Fitzgerald in the goal and Sean Townsend and Nathan Purcell in defence while on Vale side both Frankie Doyle and Ethan Chambers were excellent in Midfield and Breda Rochford never put a foot wrong in defence .

U14 Div 2 29/10 11:45
Vale Wanderers AFC 1 - 2 Hanover Harps AFC

The poor weather didn't dampen the spirit or the efforts in an entertaining match at The Superbowl this morning.

An opening quarter saw both sides weigh each other up without a clear opening being created.

James Aughney, in the Vale goal, was quick off his line to dominate his area and mopped up Hanover's through balls.

But it was the away team who struck first, with Nathan Walsh grabbing the opener.

The Vale back 3 regrouped and the home side started to play their way into the game with some good balls from midfield and forward runs being made - Shaun Sibanda almost getting clear on a couple of occasions.

Vale won a freekick and Diarmuid Redmond stepped up to blast the ball to the back of the net from about 22 yards out.

The scores were level at half-time at 1-1.

The second half was much the same, with Hanover having the lion's share of possession but Vale defending comfortably and threatening on the counter.

The final ball just let the home side down on a few occasions, most notably when a diagonal through ball from Redmond just went inches beyond Matthew Jordan's run from deep, which would surely have seen him score.

Hanover came more and more into the game and grabbed the winner with approx 10mins to go with a goal from Adrian Robu.

Hanover's winning start to the season continues while Vale are left looking at their next match for their first point, but the gap between the teams was much closer today than the league table suggests.

There were a number of good performances for Vale today with Conor Stanley, Tommy Dunne and Joey Drea giving their all.

Best for Hanover were Cian Dolan, Masfie Islam and Colin King.
