Ballymurphy Celtic 1 - 1 Burrin Celtic AFC

A really exciting game of football between two evenly matched teams this afternoon in Ballymurphy. The game started at a ferocious pace with both sides going hammer and thongs to try and break the deadlock. Hannah O Neill in goal for Ballymurphy was having a great game and made two good saves to keep the score at 0-0. At the other end Sophie Redmond and Hannah Duggan had great chances to score but their shots were well saved by the keeper. Then on 24 mins a Ciara Williams pile driver just went over the cross bar to leave the score at 0-0 HT

Into the second half and Bally finally made the breakthrough when a bursting run from Faye Doyle played Sophie Whelan in who in turn set up the lively Hannah Duggan who beat two defenders before striking a low shot to the Burrin Celtic net. Bally continued to dominate after this with Emma Kavanagh and Aoife Cummins playing well while Leah Keogh put in some great tackles to stop some Burrin Celtic attacks. Then with 5 mins to go Burrin Celtic broke through the Bally rear guard and scored a great equaliser to make it 1-1. Bally had the chance to take all three points at the death but Hannah Duggans shot was well saved and it ended in a draw.

Burrin Celtic had a great all round team performance.

Best for Bally were Ciara Williams, Aine White, Leah Keogh and Hannah Duggan

HT 0-0

It was a fairly dower second half with both teams having half chances with Bally slightly shading proceedings but just could not score.

Best for Bally were James Flood, Dian Foley and Noah Scully

A good game between two well matched teams, the first half saw vale go into a 2 - 0 lead through a fine strike from Fionn Ford from 18 yards out and Barteck Gutrzko with the 2nd from a corner, Bally never really were in the game in the first half.

HT 0-2

It was a completely different Bally performance in the second half and responded with a well taken goal from Adam Joyce and a superb free kick from Eoin condren on 56 mins to draw the teams level. Bally put on relentless pressure and in the dying minutes Conor Walsh put jake Fitzpatrick through one on one and Fitz made no mistake putting it into the bottom corner to win the game for the Bally boys.

Best for Bally, Thomas Sheehan , Tom kehoe and Darragh Coleman

St Fiaccs 4 Ballymurphy 2

St Fiaccs used the full size of their squad for this fixture with some girls rested for an academy game but still came out on top in this tight game against a determined Ballymurphy. St Fiaccs started the best with Ashlee Smith and Ella Matthews going close following great work from Leah Nelson on both occasions but were denied by Aine Doyle in the Ballymurphy goal. It wasnt till the 23rd minute that Fiaccs eventually broke the deadlock following a great pass in the Fiaccs midfield to play in Ashlee Smith who rounded the keeper to score.

5 minutes later Ballymurphy were awarded a penalty which Mia O Meill converted.

St Fiaccs again took hold of the game and right on halftime went back in front through Ashlee Smith with her second of the game.

Ballymurphy started the second half slightly quicker and Grainne Grennan equalised deservedly. After this St Fiaccs started applying pressure to the Ballymurphy goal and created some great chances but just couldn't find the back of the net until Abbey O Shea who was just after coming on the field scored to give St Fiaccs the lead for the third time.

As Ballymurphy pushed forward again Hanna Kerfah found herself in space to seal the game for the home side.

Orla Keating, Leah Cummins Nelson and Ashlee Smith stood out for St Fiaccs while

Aine Doyle, Grainne Grennan and Rachel Kennedy were best for Ballymurphy

In a game played in bad weather conditions

The two teams served up an outstanding game,Bally played against a very strong wind in the 1st half, and an unbelievable defensive display from the goalkeeper and 3 backs after some heavy pressure from new oak who had big help due to the heavy wind, but due to Ballymurphys strong character they took the lead 25 mins to a great Noah fitzpatrick goal,so 1-0 at the break.

Bally showed no slowing down as the whistle blew for the start of 2nd half, and even though the wind had died,a good new oak side had no answer to the pressure put on by Bally,it was attack after attack, and then against the run of play new oak equalised

It was a nail in the heart to take but the penny dropped with the Bally lads, who really went into 5th gear in the final 10mins,it was two and fro and Callum Kelly brought off 3 great saves in succession,a display that his goalkeeping coach shay ivers will be proud of.

And it came down to the resilient Bally tearing down the wing with Rory Murphy and Finn scully tearing the new oak defence to shreads and a pass in to the brilliant Noah Fitz to put past the new oak keeper,to win the game for Bally in the last few mins,a richly deserved win.

The 9 starting team and two subs, were magnificent and its a game I think that would be impossible to single out any Bally player but a huge mention has to go to Joe Walsh at centre back who stood strong along with John Joyce and Ardagh O Shea.

It was a great team performance from a gallant new oak side.

A miserable afternoon in Ballymurphy seen Celtic drop their first points of the season.

Ballymurphy had a slow tired start. Was the toy show the night before to blame? The wind? The horizontal rain? Or was it the strong Vale side who started from the first whistle?

Vale were very dominant for the first 10 minutes. Winning every 50/50 ball. On 12 minutes Ethan Chambers found himself in space. He smashed a shot from just outside the box, the ball slipped through the goalkeepers wet gloves.1 nil Vale

Finally Ballymurphy got going and seen their best spell of the game. On 18 minutes Danny Jordan picked up the ball in the centre of the park. Clever footwork and a lovely through ball sent Sam Traynor away. Sam left two defenders in his wake before curling a lovely little shot to make it 1 all.

Four minutes later Ruairi O'brien put bally ahead. He went on a solo run down the right wing. His goal bound shot took a slight deflection and past the Vale keeper.

Bobby Ivers, in goal, ensures bally finished the half ahead when he bravely saved at the feet of an onrushing striker.

2 - 1 to Ballymurphy at halftime.

In the second half Vale, playing with the wind, really turned up the pressure and Ballymurphy seldom troubled the Vale goal. The trio of Frankie Doyle, Ethan Chambers and Conor Ryan in Vales midfield linked up really well. Vale created chance after chance but the bally boys stood their ground. With two in the first half and two in the second half has seen Zenon Jordan master the art of the last ditch tackle. Cillian Foley cleared ball after ball, never putting a foot wrong all game.

Eventually Vale, with a bit of luck, scored the equaliser on 45 minutes. Ruairi Farrell pounced on a loose ball and found himself 1 on 1 with Bobby Ivers. Bobby got a foot to the low shot but the ball trickled over the line.

2 all the final result.

Best for Ballymurphy: Zenon Jordan, Bobby Ivers, Cillian Foley.

Best for Vale: Frankie Doyle, Ethan Chambers, Conor Ryan.

A great game in New Oak this morning as New Oak Green hosted Ballymurphy. The game was played in great spirits by these two very young teams. Both teams started brightly in some blustery conditions with New Oak taking the lead in the 10th minute through Emily Carpenter. They then doubled their lead after 20 mins with a wonderful long range effort fro Aoibhinn Keogh. Ballymurphy pushed very hard but were denied by two wonderful saves from Eryn Ray in the New Oak goal. Ballymurphy pulled one back 5 mins before half time with a great strike from Grainne Greenan.

New Oak kept their foot on the gas in the second half and added two more goals through Luana Whelan and another from Keogh.

Ballymurphy never gave in and this young team will have better days.

The match end 4-1 to New Oak with Eryn Ray, Niamh Nolan and Kate Murphy standing out.

Emily carpenter then scored her 3rd and 4th goals just before the break to leave it 1-6 at HT.

This was a very good game of football between too evenly matched sides. Baltinglass took an early lead through a great free kick before Bally equalised on 24 mins when Oisin Fogarty and Charlie Foley combined to set up Cian Moylan to equalise with a great shot. Baltinglass then retook the lead on 27 mins after a great through ball.

HT 1-2

Ballymurphy dominated the early stages of the second half and came close on 45 mins when Shane Jordan was put through one on one but tje Baltinglass goalkeeper made a great save. Then with 10 mins to go, Ballymurphy were denied what looked a stone wall penalty after a handball on the goal line but the referee gave a free out. Baltinglass then got a penalty of their own with 5 mins to go and after Jack ivers made a brilliant save the penalty taker slotted home the rebound. Bally pulled one back through Shane Jordan with 2 mins to go before Baltinglass wrapped up the points on the full time whistle.

Ballymurphy Celtic 1 - 2 Burrin Celtic AFC

In a great game,of end to end football,a great hard fought battle, with a grain of rice tipping the scale in burrins favour.

The home side had 5 brilliant chances in a 1st half that Ballymurphy had the upper hand, the burrin keeper being kept busy by some great attacking play by the home side, but burrin stuck at it and were strong in defence, and both teams went in 0-0 at the break.

Bally started the 2nd half the way they ended 1st but against the run of play, burrin took the lead,Bally heads didn’t go down and they persevered with great work from Noah fitzpatrick down the wing and the ball in caused some confusion in burrin defence and the ball came off one of the defenders and past the burrin keeper,1-1,but with 3 mins to go,a Bally side line throw was picked up by the burrin striker, who hit the ball and brought a great save From Callum kelly, but an unrushing burrin striker stuck the rebound in the Bally net,and as Bally tried hard for last few mins for the equilizer,it wasn’t to be,and plenty of broken hearts at the final whistle.

Both teams had great team performances and it would be unfair to single out any players in particular

A historic first win for the Ballymurphy girls against a very strong and determined Vale Wanderers side. Ballymurphy starter strongly and went ahead early through Hannah Duggans rasper of a shot which was too hot to handle for the Vale Keeper on 10 mins. Ballymurphy pressed for another with Ciara Williams free kick hitting the post and away to safety on 20 mins. Then just before Half time a great Grainne Brophy pass set up Duggan again who squared the ball for the impressive Emma Brennan to shoot home 2-0 . Ht 2-0.

Vale started the better in the new half and deservedly pulled one goal back through Sinead Sibanda. Vale then piled on the pressure in search of the equaliser but great defensive work from Faye Doyle, Zoe Kelly and Sophie Redmond kept Vale at bay. Bally finished the stronger and could have had a third through Emma Brennan whose mazy run and shot was well saved again by the keeper. Then just at the end a brilliant Ruth Flood save saved the day for Ballymurphy who ran out 2-1 winners in jubilant scenes.

Best for Vale Charlotte Earl in goal, Milly Byrne and Abigale O Gorman. Best for Bally were Ruth Flood, Grainne Brophy, Emma Brennan and Shonagh O Shea
