Carlow Girls Academy Squads
Last year we established a Carlow girls soccer academy for the first time ever. Our u12 and u14 academies competed in the u12 Gaynor Cup (a one day blitz in Sligo) and the u14 Gaynor Cup (a 4 day tournament held in University Limerick). Due to the success of our academies last year we will also have an u16 academy this year that will participate in the u16 Gaynor Cup also held in University Limerick over 4/5 days.

Trials for the u14 academy (girls born in 2003 & 2004) and the u16 academy (girls born in 2001 & 2002) will take place in Bagnelstown’s pitch on 16th and 23rd October at 2pm.

Trials for our u12 academy will take place on Sunday 30th October and 6th November at 3.30pm in Bagnelstown. All girls living in the county or registered with a club in the Carlow & District Juvenile League are very welcome to come along and try out for the academies.

The academies will be chosen from the players that attend the trials and will then train, play friendlies and participate in mini tournaments in preparation for participation in the Gaynor Cups next summer. The Gaynor Cups are prestigious national girls tournaments where academies from all over Ireland compete against each other. The academies stay on campus in University Limerick during the duration of the tournaments. During last years Gaynor Cups the Carlow academies played against academies from Waterford, Sligo, Innisowen, Galway, Midland, Donegal and Dublin.
