Crettyard show Racism Red Card day

On Saturday 22nd October Crettyard UTD AFC Juvenile club "Showed Racism the red card!"

Our small club is located off the N78 in rural county Laois , situated close to the borders of both Kilkenny and Carlow.

Our engagement with the campaign was simple but effective . Both our Under 13 and Under 12 teams were playing their league games against Hanover Harps and Vale wanderers . Both Cretty yard team managers Ramon Buggy and Martin Rice gave full support by allowing pre match preparation to be interrupted by Aine Geoghegan (Club Secretary)

She explored with team members understanding of racism and the red card campaign. Both Vale and Hanover managers were equally supportive and all four teams of young people outshone the adults by expressing a clear understanding of the issue and showing no hesitation in wearing the armband and supporting the campaign. Many thanks to Brian O'Reilly who was the referee for both matches. He gave full support by holding the redcard and organising the team photos.

Many thanks for every ones support and our future shines brightly with the 60 plus young people that participated on the day and "Showed Racism the red card!"
