Ballymurphy Celtic v Hanover Harps AFC Div 1
Hanover edge tight contest
u13 cup rd2 18/05 19:00
Ballymurphy Celtic 1 - 2 Hanover Harps AFC Div 1
On a fine evening for football and a great surface to play on Ballymurphy and Hanover locked horns in a titanic battle between two well matched teams.Hanover started brightly with Adrian Robu prominent for the visitors. They took the lead from a well delivered corner that was powered to the net from 7yards by an unmarked Shay O'grady.Bally upped the tempo after this and on two occasions Danny Jordan was very unlucky when the bounce of the ball didn't go his way, especially the second time with the ball catching him on the back of his heels ad he raced through on goal.Bally were then caught out with a sucker punch before halftime when a ball was played down the left wing and Rodu cut inside and finished well to the far corner in the 25th min.Two mins later the same player cut inside the area from the left and hit a shot towards the top corner which brought a fantastic save out of the Ballymurphy keeper. On the stroke of halftime Bally almost got a goal of there own from a great James Flood corner, only for the bounce of ball to go against them again.Ballymurphy came out like a team possessed in the second half and their captain Shane Jordan drove them on from midfield but in fairness to Hanover they defended very well.Bally finally got the goal they deserved with 10mins left after Oisin Fogarty showed great skill and determination to get his cross in and an unfortunate defender headed into his own.Bally were camped in Hanover's half for the last 10mins but couldn't force a goal despite numerous free-kicks and just at the death they missed a great chance for an equaliser when they shot over the bar from 8yards.A great game with Senan Sheehan,Shay O'grady and Adrian Robu outstanding for Hanover and for Bally,Dylan King,Noah Fitzpatrick and Shane Jordan who covered every blade of grass in the second half were outstanding in a great team performance.

u16 Cup 14/05 11:00
Hanover Harps AFC 5 - 0 St Joseph's AFC Black

Hanover qualified for the Under 16 Cup Final after winning the semi final v St Joseph's Black on Sunday morning in The Plots. The home team were slow out of the blocks and St Joseph's asked plenty of questions before Hanover's Daire Byrne opened the scoring after 15 minutes.

It looked like staying that way until the break until a great individual goal from Aaron Cunningham Burke made it 2-0 at half time.

Hanover improved a bit in the second half but Joseph's were still in the game until Bailee Cooney struck a free kick home off the underside of the crossbar. There was still time for Aaron Cunningham Burke to complete his hat trick with two more well taken goals.

For Hanover, Dermot Lawlor, Darragh Redmond, Lander Fernandes and Gael O Rock were in good form.

For Joseph's, Ronan Kelly, Tommy Cooney and Lorcan Kelly were best.

St Patrick's Boys AFC v St Fiacc's AFC
11/05 19:00
St Patrick's Boys AFC 4 - 1 St Fiacc's AFC

St. Pat's started very strongly controlling the game and creating several chances from both wings. Cailyn Thompson has a free kick which was blocked with the rebound coming back to him and he hit a shot to the bottom corner. Still St. Pat's pressed well with St. Fiaccs defending very well. St. Fiaccs grew into the game and had a great counter attack with Dillon Doyle scoring a fantastic goal.

in the second half St. Pats still pressed creating chance after chance. Calum McMillian made a great run on the wing and a great finish. St. Fiaccs went looking for the equaliser but Pats caught them on the break and Jamal Adegoke finished well. St. Pats caught St. Fiaccs on the counter again when Podge Brennan assisted Zakaria Darsi to finish the game.

Stand out players for St. Fiaccs Jack Scully, Jamie French and Dillon Doyle.

Best for St. Pats were Temi Adetoro, Podge Brennan, Leigh Haughney, and Calum McMillan.

Hanover Harps AFC Div 1 v Burrin Celtic AFC
u13 cup rd2 11/05 19:00
Hanover Harps AFC Div 1 3 - 2 Burrin Celtic AFC

This was the first outing for both teams in the cup and it was a thrilling encounter with end-to-end action.

The home side were slow to get into the game and their rocky start was punished by Burrin Celtic in the third minute who opened the scoring with a goal from Bobby Campbell. The early score seemed to awaken the Hanover squad who showed they were up for the challenge. They were rewarded with a goal in the eighth minute when a cross from Adrian Robu into the box was headed into the net by Owen Fitzharris. The remainder of the first half was a though battle with chances at both ends of the field.

Hanover went ahead in 33rd minute with Owen Fitzharris getting his second goal when a shot by Shay O’Grady on goal bounced off the keeper to fall at the feet of Owen who knocked it in. The home side had a couple of more chances from there to extend the lead but failed to make it count. The Hanover defence were solid throughout the game except for an uncharacteristic nervous scramble which gave Burrin’s, Tadgh Campbell an easy opportunity to score an equalizer. Hanover scored the winning goal when a well-executed corner cross from Adrian Robu found the head of Maesfi Islam.

Best for Burrin: Colm Donald, Tadgh Campbell ad Glen Cantwell.

Best for Hanover:

Owen Fitzharris

Nathan Walsh

Mael O'Rock
